Job Summary
The Grid Testing & Commissioning (T & C) EHS Manager position requires deep familiarity with high voltage electrical safety. Candidates must have aptitude in high voltage hazard recognition, switching and clearance procedures, energization sequencing, relay and protection testing workflows, and T&C-specific risk controls. Candidates with direct high voltage commissioning and/or utility energization experience within Transmission, Substation, and Distribution are preferred.
This position may be performed remotely but will require frequent site visits and close collaboration with T&C leadership, project managers, and field staff in support of various projects in the United States.

General Responsibilities
Manages construction safety and health program administration.
Manages site safety, health, environmental, and security budgets.
Implements, administers and maintains Drug and Alcohol Substance Abuse Program for a project.
Develops and conducts employee safety and health training programs.
Conducts site safety and health inspections and safety and health program audits.
Ensures project safety and health documentation is complete and accurate.
Conducts incident and injury/illness investigations. Writes detailed investigation and safety and health progress reports.
Interfaces with clients and government officials.
Manages and implements project environmental programs and policies.
Supervises Safety and Health Intern, Safety and Health Specialist 1, 2, and 3, Safety and Health Manager 1, as applicable.
Key Responsibilities
Training and Compliance: Coordinates and schedules safety training for T&C personnel, including: First Aid / CPR / AED, Bloodborne Pathogens, Aerial Lift Operation, Confined Space, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Client- and project-specific required training; Delivers training when qualified; trainer capability is strongly preferred; Ensures training completions are documented and tracked in designated systems
Procedures and Documentation: leads development of safety procedures specific to Testing & Commissioning activities; reviews existing T&C procedures to identify safety gaps and recommends improvements; maintains and updates safety documentation, ensuring accessibility to field teams
Continuous Improvement and Operational Support: partners with T&C leadership to proactively identify and mitigate risks on upcoming work; provides input on: pre-task planning, equipment selection, hazard identification specific to T&C scopes; supports incident investigations and ensures lessons learned are communicated across the department; develops tools, templates, and checklists to support safe and efficient field execution
Minimum Qualifications
5+ years in a construction environment, 5+ years safety and health experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Safety and health certification, Bachelor's Degree preferred
Preferred Skills: Knowledge of safety and health standards and practices. Knowledge of company substance abuse policies and procedures. Knowledge of construction contracting strategies and contract administration. Knowledge of worker's compensation policies and procedures. Knowledge of insurance program administration including owner-controlled and contractor-controlled insurance programs. Knowledge of project safety and health budgeting and cost control. Knowledge of environmental laws and company and client programs, procedures. Knowledge of security risk and control processes and procedures. Knowledge of company safety and health consultation capabilities and ability to perform as a consultant. Ability to effectively interface with client and government officials. Communication skills. Ability to effectively manage emergency situations. Word processing and spreadsheet computer software programs. Ability to write detailed reports. Human relations skills. Conflict management skills.

• Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds.

• Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls according to a set procedure.
