This 116-year-old, non-profit organization has an annual operating budget of over $70 million dollars and generates revenue through four activity streams:  the 15 day annual summer Fair which averages more than 700,000 people annually, Playland amusement park which welcomes 400,000 guests annually including Fright Nights, and a busy year-round portfolio of events including concerts, trade shows and film, cultural and community events.  In total we bring over 2 million people through the site each year. The fourth activity stream is park care and facility maintenance. Our Labourer team works work under the direction of the Director, PNE Maintenance & Facility Operations and are responsible for site maintenance, and setup/teardown of events. They will operate vehicles and tools/equipment in compliance with all health and safety requirements as determined by WorkSafeBC, and all other applicable legislation and company policies.<strong> </strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Why join our Team?</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Exhilarating and fun-loving culture</li>\n <li>Flexible work environment </li>\n <li>Opportunity for free or discounted tickets to shows, events, sports games, and much more </li>\n <li>Staff discounts for Playland, The Fair, and Fright Nights, as well as all PNE Food Stands</li>\n <li>Competitive compensation package</li>\n <li>Opportunity to create lasting memories and friendships!<strong> </strong></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>What will you do this year?</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>In your role as an <strong>Event Conversion Labourer</strong>, your primary accountabilities will be to:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Assist with the full lifecycle of event conversions including load-in, setup, changeover, and strike by moving and setting up equipment, furniture, and event infrastructure.</li>\n <li>Set up and dismantle event elements including seating (bleachers and specialty configurations), hockey boards (dashers), arena glass, netting, player benches, pipe and drape, barricades, flooring, signage, temporary fencing, and queue systems; lay out event spaces according to drawings and floor plans while supporting back-of-house setups. </li>\n <li>Perform maintenance and janitorial tasks including cleaning washrooms, mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, and stocking supplies as needed.</li>\n <li>Service and maintain equipment operated by site maintenance.</li>\n <li>Effectively use heavy and light equipment, depending on the jobsite/assignment.</li>\n <li>Assemble and dismantle special event facilities.</li>\n <li>Maintain a safe and clean work environment in storage areas, sea containers, and equipment rooms.</li>\n <li>Perform other related work as required.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Fair Time Duties</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Schedule change based on operational needs.</li>\n <li>Summer Fair – August 1st to September 30th</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>What else?</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Previous general labour and janitorial experience is required.</li>\n <li>Must be capable of lifting 50lb objects; be highly motivated and able to work alone. </li>\n <li><strong>A valid class 5 BC driver’s license is required.</strong></li>\n <li>Previous experience operating a forklift is preferred.</li>\n <li>A valid forklift operating license is an asset.</li>\n <li>A valid aerial lift or fall arrest certification is an asset. </li>\n <li>Knowledge of materials, methods and equipment used in janitorial work.</li>\n <li>Knowledge of methods and practices used in servicing and maintaining equipment operated.</li>\n <li>Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in assembling and dismantling special event facilities and in performing maintenance and janitorial tasks.</li>\n <li>Successful completion of grade 12 preferred. </li>\n <li>OFA Level I (or higher) is considered an asset.</li>\n <li>Skill in the operation of construction and maintenance equipment and the use of tools used in servicing, minor maintenance tasks are desirable.</li>\n <li>Ability to carry out work orders and prepare and maintain work records.</li>\n <li>Must have CSA approved steel toe boots.</li>\n <li><strong>Candidates must undergo a Criminal Record Check.</strong></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Who are you?</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Team Player</li>\n <li>Passionate</li>\n <li>Skillful communicator</li>\n <li>Proactive</li>\n <li>Committed</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Where and when to APPLY?</strong> </p>\n<p>Applications can be submitted via the PNE website at <strong>www.pne.ca/jobs</strong> and will be accepted until the role is filled.  </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Preference will be given to candidates who submit their resume/cover letter before <strong><em>Sunday, April 26</em></strong><em>. </em> We look forward to hearing from you! </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><em>The PNE is proud to be an equal opportunity employer, committed to creating an inclusive workforce that reflects the diverse community we proudly serve.
