Description

Orla Mining is striving to be the emerging gold producer of choice with a geographically diversified asset base, a prospective development and exploration portfolio, an experienced management team with a successful track record, and a high-quality board and shareholder base. Orla operates the Camino Rojo Oxide Gold Mine, a gold and silver open-pit heap leach mine, located in Zacatecas State, Central Mexico. This low-cost operation is 100% owned by Orla, covers over 139,000 hectares, and includes a large sulphide mineral endowment located beneath the oxide resources.  We are also advancing permitting and development on our South Railroad Project, a feasibility-stage, open-pit heap leach project located on the prolific Carlin trend in Nevada. This project is part of our larger South Carlin Complex which includes a prospective land package. We recently acquired the Musselwhite Mine located in Northern Ontario on Lake Opapimiskan, a gold mine with more than 25 years of operating history. The addition of Musselwhite has allowed Orla to more than double our gold production and provide a strategic entry into a Tier 1 mining jurisdiction. The Musselwhite Mine is highly prospective with the potential to expand resources and mine life for years to come. Orla is building a legacy of excellence, respect, and sustainable value through responsible gold mining. We are striving to create a net positive benefit for all and leaving a legacy beyond the life of our mines. We do this through building and operating high-quality mines supported and led by an experienced team. We are custodians of the assets we run and the environments in which we operate, and we are committed to fostering a culture of excellence, care, and respect. This role is responsible for developing, maintaining, and reviewing geological models, exploration drill program planning and supporting mineral resources updates. This role will report directly to our Manager, Mineral Resources. Responsibilities include: Build, update and maintain rock type, structure, alteration, and mineralization domain models using all available geological data as input to the development of resource estimates. Integrate new drill results in real-time to evaluate and update geological models, assess domain and grade continuity. Identify risks, uncertainties, and opportunities within geological interpretations and drill results. Act as peer reviewer of geology models developed by site teams (Exploration and Technical Services); provide constructive feedback and coaching to improve quality and strengthen skills. In partnership with site teams, help develop plans for the addition and delineation of potential inventory and mineral resource ounces at each site. Plans will include non-technical considerations that could be critical issues standing in the way of successful execution. Monitor the potential of added ounces in real-time and summarize quarterly. Support and execute mineral resource evaluations for internal and external purposes and make recommendations regarding the quality of the assets reviewed. Validate drill data, assays, and model outputs. Monitor the quality of geologic data to support geological models, mineral resource estimates and decision making. Ensure geological models and mineral resource estimate methods, observations, outcomes and recommendations are well documented and audit-ready. Contribute internal technical reports, exploration updates and management presentations. Support external reporting including press releases, technical presentations and technical reporting. Review, edit, and/or complete drilling, sampling, data verification and mineral resource estimate sections of Orla’s technical reports. Assist with the production of assessment-related documents and presentations. Support adherence to and proper documentation of SOX (Sarbanes‑Oxley) compliance requirements. Build and maintain productive relationships with key stakeholders, including site geologists and Exploration Managers, Operations team, Investor Relations & Corporate Development, internal and external consultants, C-Suite, etc., as required. Work closely with Exploration, Resource, and Technical Services teams to align Exploration with development objectives. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Exploration and Geology site teams to build internal capability. Skills and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Geological Engineering, advance degree a plus. Minimum of 10 years working in the mining industry and in international roles in geological modelling and/or mineral resource estimation. Proven modelling experience for different types of deposits: ideally, Epithermal, Orogenic, Carlin, etc. Experience working with large mining and exploration companies with multiple sites located in different countries is a plus. Good knowledge of QAQC principles including implementation and data assessment. 5+ years of experience running mineral resource interpolations, from data acquisition and validation to execution, checks and presentation of results with details and implications. Excellent data interpretation, targeting, QAQC, and GIS skills. Ability to communicate at all levels and manage multiple tasks. Capability to travel to sites in Canada, US, Mexico and elsewhere as required, interacting with teams in different time zones Proficiency using exploration and mining software. Ideally knowledge of Leapfrog and/or Micromine and/or Vulcan. Member of the Association of a Professional accreditable body is mandatory. Base Salary range: $ 140,000 to $ 150,000 per year. At Orla, we prioritize our people, creating and maintaining a workplace culture of diversity and inclusion where employees are respected, valued, and recognized for their contributions.
