Veterinary Purchasing Co. Ltd. (VP)   is the largest veterinary-owned distributor in Canada. With our head office located in St. Marys, Ontario, our primary purpose is to ensure that veterinarians get the supplies they need, exactly when they need them! We’re launching our new warehouse in Moncton, NB, and we’re looking for a Warehouse Manager to lead the way. Join our Operations team and play a key role in shaping our supply chain from the ground up! Warehouse Manager Provide overall leadership and oversight of warehouse operations, directing and supervising all warehouse personnel while ensuring ongoing compliance with applicable regulatory, safety, and quality standards, to consistently meet or exceed shareholder and business requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Meet or exceed operational targets. Provide direction to the Warehouse Supervisor on daily activities and priorities. Ensure employees pick, check, and pack orders accurately. Monitor employee errors and efficiency rates; provide feedback and corrective action. Optimize warehouse operations through deep expertise in the company ERP system, identifying opportunities and recommending enhancements to improve efficiency and effectiveness.  Lead special projects impacting Warehouse Operations.  Prioritize orders to meet shipping deadlines. Direct overall warehouse operations labour. Supervise, train, and evaluate all warehouse employees to ensure employees are adhering to Company policy and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Identify and address obstacles that interfere with employee performance and overall operational effectiveness.  Ensure daily preparation jobs are prioritized and completed thoroughly and accurately. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly employee schedules. Ensure a clean and organized working environment is maintained. Identify and implement operational improvements, including processes and warehouse layout. Proactively identify departmental requirements (i.e. staffing, training etc.). Coordinate with outside contractors to conduct repair activities as required. Respond to out of temperature alarms and document corrective action. Respond to security and fire alarms. Ensure fire system and fire extinguisher annual inspections are complete. Schedule and oversee all facility Preventative Maintenance Contractors. Ensure all receiving records are completed and maintained. Ensure appropriate handling of Chain of Signature (COS) packages. Accountable for ensuring COS orders are signed off by drivers and loaded on the trailer tail. Ensure quality checks on incoming freight are completed. Work closely with Head Office Purchasing team to ensure accurate inventory receipts. Liaise with shipping partners to arrange for additional service during peak periods as well as the timely return of shipping totes and other shipping related issues. Ensure dangerous goods, cytotoxic and limited quantity products are labelled as per the standard operation procedure. Oversee employee performance and attendance, including monitoring probationary progress, addressing performance or conduct issues in partnership with Human Resources, and making employment-related recommendations. Manage workforce scheduling and time-off approvals, including reviewing and approving adjusted work hours and vacation requests in line with operational needs and company policies. Other duties as assigned. Regulatory Compliance Responsible for understanding, applying and monitoring the pharmaceutical quality system, including SOPs, at the Moncton facility. Draft and Maintain Quality Records in collaboration with Head Office (e.g. Deviations, Change Controls, Product Quality Complaints). Aid in the Investigation of Non-Conformances. Identify and execute corrective and preventative action. Support the review of SOPs for Interdepartmental and Cross-facility accuracy. Oversee site specific tracking of Quality System’s timelines/deadlines. Support the preparation and execution of Qualification and Validation documents and activities. Controlled Substance and Precursor (A/QPIC + A/RPIC, where applicable) Oversee order processing of controlled substances and precursors. Assist with the monitoring of transactions involving controlled substances. Assist with monitoring the illicit value of controlled drug substances held at the facility relative to the Security Directive. Perform daily and monthly physical inventory of all narcotic and controlled drugs and precursor items and maintain appropriate records. Assist with the preparation and submission of monthly and annual sales reports of all controlled drugs and narcotics listed in Schedules I-VIII of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, and of all precursor items. Assist with reporting to the Office of Controlled Substances any losses or theft of narcotic and/or controlled drugs as specified in the regulations, when applicable. Respond to inquiries (written and verbal) from the Office of Controlled Substances and Health Canada Inspectors, when applicable. Ensure that prior to processing and delivery of a controlled substance, the requested order with respect to signed, verbal and electronic ordering device, is in compliance with the corresponding regulations. Health & Safety: Works in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and follows VP’s policies and procedures Conducts self with regard for the safety of all employees Participates in health and safety training, meetings, and drills as required; is aware of safety and evacuation procedures Reports any health & safety violations or hazards to appropriate contacts (JHSC Representatives, Supervisors, Managers) Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP): Follows and understands all relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with respect to Good Manufacturing Practices Company Culture: Demonstrates a commitment to VP’s core values of service, care, respect, integrity, and community by incorporating these principles into daily work, decision-making, and interactions with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders Embodies and promotes VP’s mission of delivering the highest level of service to our member practices through the personal actions of people care. Understanding of Health Canada’s Guidelines for Temperature Control during Transportation (GUI-0069). Bilingualism considered an asset. Strong interpersonal skills required to interact with all levels within the organization. Proven organization and time management skills. Experience with Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
