Description

A DAY IN THE LIFE AS AN ASSISTANT STORE MANAGER AT GOODWILL As an Assistant Store Manager, you play a vital role in supporting our mission of providing employment-related services to the community by participating in all areas of the store's daily operations. Every day will be something different, packed with variety and routine! You will be training new hires; motivating staff to meet their individual and team goals; providing outstanding customer service to shoppers, donors, and employees; managing administrative responsibilities; and creating an environment where your team wants to come to work every day! The Assistant Store Manager assumes responsibility of all store personnel and processes in the absence of the Store Manager. QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN ASSISTANT STORE MANAGER The successful candidate will have at least five (5) years of supervisory experience, preferably in retail. This person will also be dependable to work an assigned schedule rotation. (Store hours are Monday - Saturday 9AM- 8PM and Sundays 11AM - 7PM.) This working manager’s position requires the ability to stand for long periods of time (up to 8 hours), bend, stoop, lift, push and pull a minimum of 30 pounds, reach overhead, operate manual equipment such as pallet jacks and hand-trucks to move product throughout the store and production areas. The Assistant Store Manager will also need to have a valid Arizona driver’s license with a suitable driving record, and be able to become CPR and First Aid Certified. Must be able to gain clearance under the Department of Economic Security to provide services to program participants of the Division of Developmental Disabilities (fingerprint and background check) within 90 days of employment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Know and demonstrate company values at all times. Provide exceptional customer service to customers and donors at all times. Completes daily sales reports. Supervises daily store operations. Makes daily bank deposits. Handles all aspects of customer service in a professional manner. Documents and reports incidents for coaching or possible disciplinary action to District Manager. Sorts and prices donations according to established guidelines. Assists with orientation and training of store employees. Ensures production meets established guidelines. Prepares weekly payroll information, including time cards and exception reports Carries out merchandise pulls according to established guidelines. Ability to lift a minimum of 30 pounds, be able to stand for long periods at a time, bending, pushing and pulling required. Orders and maintains adequate office, janitorial, and general supplies. Places orders for internal product delivery. Supports and executes Goodwill policies and procedures. Follows all safety rules and practices. Performs all other duties as may be assigned by the Store Manager or District Manager in the process of carrying out the mission of Goodwill Industries. In order to promote customer and donor satisfaction it is mandatory for employees who come in contact with the public to maintain a positive work outlook and to project a pleasant, courteous, and helpful demeanor at all times when dealing with customers, donors, co-workers, and clients. NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Display work habits of regular attendance, punctuality, teamwork, initiative, willingness to learn, dependability, and promptness. Actively promotes safety and loss prevention policies and reports issues immediately. Completes and submits accident/incident reports appropriately and timely. Handles internal and external inquiries regarding donation sites/policies Attends and participates in monthly meetings, as required. * Must have a valid AZ driver license and auto insurance, reliable transportation, and acceptable driving record. ** Must have or be able to gain AZDES Fingerprint Clearance within 90 days of employment. ** Must complete and maintain specialized trainings: CPR/First Aid, Article 9, Prevention & Support, and Certified Monitor Training *Necessary to be able to travel between locations, as needed. **Necessary in order to provide services to clients of the AZ DES Division of Developmental Disabilities.
