Quanta’s focus on the utility industry and HBK’s focus on constructability in our designs has made our integration into the Quanta family of companies seamless.</p>\n<h2>About this Role</h2>\n<p>HBK Engineering is seeking a Field Technician traveling nearly 100% of the time for on-site work. This position is responsible for performing surveying duties, while work directly with Field Leads, Safety Managers and Project Managers to meet the needs of HBK’s field services.</p>\n<h2>What You'll Do</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Conducts surveys to ascertain the locations of natural features and man-made structures on the surface and underground</li>\n <li>Operates surveying instruments such as Total Station and GPS survey equipment</li>\n <li>Records survey measurements and descriptive data using notes, drawings, and sketches</li>\n <li>Searches for property corners and survey monuments</li>\n <li>Positions and holds vertical rods or targets that Total Station operators use for sighting to measure angles, distances, and elevations</li>\n <li>Lay out and recovers stakes, marks, and other monumentation</li>\n <li>Performs surveys of existing utility and/or street light poles utilizing total station, rangefinders, di-electric height sticks, target poles and/or GPS survey equipment</li>\n <li>Take detailed field notes and photographs</li>\n <li>Work directly with survey crew lead to ensure proper and efficient use of survey equipment</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>What You'll Bring</h2>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Minimum Qualifications</strong> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>One (1) year of OSP construction, survey, or engineering experience in aerial or underground environment is required</li>\n <li>Ability to travel up to 90% of the time and work nights/weekends when required</li>\n <li>Perform topographic surveys, aerial utility surveys, and construction staking</li>\n <li>Operate a variety of survey equipment, including total stations and GPS</li>\n <li>High school diploma or GED certificate</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Essential Skills</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Self-motivated, proactive with good interpersonal and effective communication skills</li>\n <li>Valid driver’s license (CDL not required)</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Valued but not Required Skills and Experience</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Experience with infrastructure, utility, and/or construction projects</li>\n <li>Knowledge of total station survey equipment and GPS survey equipment</li>\n <li>Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel</li>\n <li>Knowledge of AutoCAD</li>\n <li>Construction experience</li>\n <li>Formal survey training preferred but not required.</li>\n <li>Ability to Learn and understand HBK survey methods and standards</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Tools and Equipment Used</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Trimble Robotic total station</li>\n <li>Tripod</li>\n <li>Motor vehicle</li>\n <li>Mobile Phone</li>\n <li>Camera</li>\n <li>Trimble GPS R12i</li>\n <li>Measuring wheel</li>\n <li>Metal detectors</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Physical Requirements</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Physically capable of moving about on construction work sites, public streets, and parkway</li>\n <li>Capable of lifting to 40lbs</li>\n <li>Ability to walk and stand outdoors for extended periods of time</li>\n <li>Ability to sit, kneel, and squat on a daily basis – minimal frequency of kneeling and squatting</li>\n <li>Hand-eye coordination necessary to operate surveying equipment and measurements</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Work Environment</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Work safely outside in all weather conditions year-round</li>\n <li>Frequently work in excavations areas and roadways</li>\n <li>Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration</li>\n <li>The noise level in the work environment is occasionally moderate to loud</li>\n <li>May be required to work nights or weekends</li>\n <li>May be required to travel</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>What You'll Get</h2>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Equal Opportunity Employer</h2>\n<p>All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment and will not be discriminated against on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin or ancestry, sex (including gender, pregnancy, sexual orientation, and/or gender identity), age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, and/or any other basis protected by applicable federal, state or local law.We are an Equal Opportunity Employer, including disability and protected veteran status.
