This position is contingent on contract award.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>Duties will include the following:</strong></p>\n<li>Support the operations of the NOAA Outreach Center including maintaining collections of major education and outreach products from across the Agency; designing and developing new education and outreach products to fill gaps and respond to audience needs; disseminating such products to educators, students, and the public; responding to general public inquiries about NOAA and NOAA education; providing guidance and expert advice to NOAA staff engaged in public outreach activities.</li>\n<li>Plan, coordinate, and support NOAA education participation in education conferences, meetings, workshops, civic events, etc. Coordinate with internal and external partners as needed.</li>\n<li>Work closely with the Office of Education Communications team to ensure a coordinated approach for education outreach and communications efforts for NOAA’s Office of Education and the NOAA education community.</li>\n<li>Support the NOAA Education web portal and maintain thematic collections of education content from education efforts across the Agency.</li>\n<li>Conduct needs assessments and coordinate focus groups with members of target audiences to understand their needs and to get their input on new or existing education and outreach products.</li>\n<li>Develop concepts and designs for exhibits and coordinate fabrication and installation of such exhibits.</li>\n<li>Support the design and development of outreach products in other media, such as video,, audio, podcasts, etc. to promote NOAA education to target audiences.</li>\n<li>Support intra-agency and inter-agency education efforts under the NOAA Education Council, NOAA Research Council, Interagency Working Group on Ocean Education, and other internal or external committees of groups. Respond to email, telephone, postal mail, and in-person education and outreach inquiries from NOAA staff, educators, students, researchers, and members of the public.</li>\n<li>Support outreach initiatives from across the agency (e.g., NOAA Ambassadors).</li>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>The Educational Outreach Specialist selected should have the following:</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Assists with the operations of NOAA’s Outreach Center including answering constituent inquiries, responding to internal and external requests for NOAA educational outreach materials, supporting educational outreach events across the Agency, representing NOAA in education meetings and conferences, supporting NOAA-wide events like NOAA Kids Day, etc.</li>\n <li>Assists with the development and coordination of products and services designed to promote education programs and efforts of NOAA’s Office of Education and the NOAA education community. Coordinates with educational outreach professionals across NOAA to ensure consistency of approach and share best practices and lessons learned.</li>\n <li>Designs and develops educational outreach materials and publications. Assists with the planning and development of educational exhibits for NOAA booths in educational conferences.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in education, communications, or related fields. Master’s degree preferred.
