Description

Description The Emergency Room Technician (ERT) in Westfields Hospital & Clinic's Emergency Department performs routine treatments, assists in the collection of patient specimens (urine, stool, and finger stick blood glucose), documents in accordance with departmental policies, assists the RN with nursing care and treatments as needed and completes other patient care duties as assigned. Duties include: Provides timely personal care of acceptable quality to patients in accordance with established policies, procedures, standards, and approved individualized care plans in a manner mindful of patient privacy, comfort, and safety. Maintains positive interpersonal relationships with patients, visitors, and other staff while ensuring confidentiality of patient information and protection of patient privacy. Operates equipment and performs work in a safe manner, demonstrating proper body mechanics in lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying. Demonstrates correct application of orthopedic appliances (ace wrap, ankle splints, knee/shoulder immobilizer, arm slings, cast boots, and crutch fitting). Employs principles of sterile technique (tray/instrument set up.) Illustrates competency of insertion of urinary catheters, IV’s, and blood collection with an IV start. Follows correct process of patient registration when registration staff is not on duty. Maintains department supplies by inventory and stocking. Work Schedule: Casual - pick up available shifts. Required Qualifications: Completion of National EMS program Current EMT, AEMT, Paramedic or CNA license in the state of Wisconsin BLS certification Preferred Qualifications: Experience in EPIC computer system. Two years of clinical experience in an inpatient or community medical emergency setting preferred.
