Description

Head Coach of Track and Field Shorter University Shorter University, an NCAA Division II institution which competes in Conference Carolinas, is currently accepting applicants for the position of Head Coach of Track and Field. This position will be responsible for sport specific coaching, Student-Athlete development, providing Christ-centered development for student-athletes, evaluating, and recruiting prospective student-athletes, and overall administrative duties. This 12-month position reports to the Athletic Director. All activities shall be conducted within the policies of the University, the Athletics Department, Conference Carolinas, and the NCAA. The applicant must be a committed Christian. Duties and Responsibilities Recruit academically and athletically qualified student-athletes who can achieve success in the classroom and ultimately graduate. Initiate the process for determining academic eligibility. Consistently monitor student academic success, as well as eligibility status academic progress. Recruit students who can compete at the NCAA Division 2 level. Organize and supervise all practices, games, and workout sessions Work with the Sports Information Director and other University media to promote the sport of Track & Field/Cross Country Manage the track and field budget Oversee the selection, purchase, fitting, and maintenance of team equipment, to include uniforms, athletic equipment, and supplies Oversee the training and conditioning of track athletes in conjunction with the strength and conditioning coach. Provide supervision for other track and field staff Cooperate with other coaches within the Athletic Department to enhance the overall effectiveness of the Athletic Department As requested, assist with approved fundraising activities Produce required reports and data related to the track and field program. Assures rules training for the student athletes. Prepare team travel arrangements according to University, Conference, and NCAA regulations and in conjunction with the Athletics Director Perform other related duties as assigned Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree is required. At least two years of experience in coaching track and field and cross country at the intercollegiate level. Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations governing recruitment, eligibility and related functions is required. Excellent interpersonal, management and organizational skills are required.
