    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">ABOUT US</span></p>\n<p>Our mission is to prepare each student for college with an enhanced knowledge of the Ojibwe language, culture, leadership, and environmental stewardship.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>The ultimate goal of the educational program at Endazhi-Nitaawiging is to create a school where our students can see themselves in all that they are learning. Endazhi-Nitaawiging will foster a learning environment for young people grounded in Anishinaabe culture that focuses not just on instruction in academics but also on social-emotional well-being. We are firm believers in the Indigenous genius that exists among our people.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>The educational philosophy and school culture at Endazhi-Nitaawiging will be grounded in the Seven Values that Inform the school’s Vision and Mission:</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Manaaji’idiwin (respect)</li>\n<li>Nibwaakaawin (wisdom)</li>\n<li>Zoongide’ewin (courage)</li>\n<li>Enigok izhichigewin (commitment)</li>\n<li>Mashkawi’ayaawin (resilience)</li>\n<li>Bagosendamowin (hope)</li>\n<li>Niigaaniziwin (leadership)</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">POSITION TITLE</span></p>\n<p>Elder Speaker</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">POSITION SUMMARY</span></p>\n<p>Under the direction of the Head of School, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Elder Speaker to join our team. The Elder Speaker will play a vital role in ensuring the Ojibwe language is being transferred to the students and staff within the school community. The ideal candidate should be a first language speaker of Ojibwe.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Teach and speak Ojibwe to maintain a language learning setting.</li>\n<li>Support teachers in Ojibwemowin learning activities, lesson plans, curriculum development, and in the classroom, etc.</li>\n<li>Work closely and effectively with youth, families, and elders.</li>\n<li>Ability to work in small groups or one-on-one for Ojibwemowin learning activities.</li>\n<li>Provide Ojibwemowin seven teachings and values throughout the school community.</li>\n<li>Ojibwemowin storytelling.</li>\n<li>Encourage and support new ideas and approaches to learning the Ojibwe language literacy in oral/written form.</li>\n<li>Work with school staff on Ojibwemowin learning for the purpose of increasing Ojibwemowin knowledge and retention.</li>\n<li>Participate in staff development, staff meetings, and Ojibwemowin planning activities as needed.</li>\n<li>All other duties as assigned.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">QUALIFICATIONS</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Knowledge and experience in second language acquisition and Education.</li>\n<li>Be punctual and professional in all job-related activities.</li>\n<li>Ability to organize and maintain records relating to Ojibwemowin.</li>\n<li>Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.</li>\n<li>Strong skills in oral and written communication, including collaboration, leadership, and mentoring.</li>\n<li>Ability to maintain good working relationships with staff, partners, volunteers, parents, and others.</li>\n<li>Ability to travel in and out of state, obtain a valid MN driver’s license, and obtain current auto insurance.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">HOW TO APPLY</span></p>\n<p>Please send a cover letter and resume highlighting experience and qualifications related to this job and documentation of credentials to the Endazhi-Nitaawiging online portal.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Endazhi-Nitaawiging Charter School is an equal opportunity employer.
