In order to become a Ryder employee you must:</strong></strong>\n  <ul>\n   <li>Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire</li>\n   <li>Pass a Ryder Drug Test</li>\n   <li>Pass a DOT physical</li>\n   <li>Pass a Ryder road test</li>\n   <li>Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years</li>\n  </ul></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Important Note: </strong>Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification; motor vehicle records check and a road test; and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li> Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties including:</li>\n <ul>\n  <li>Performs standard vehicle maintenance</li>\n  <li>Performs preventive maintenance</li>\n  <li>Diagnoses complex mechanical and electronic problems utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable</li>\n  <li>Completes complex and detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision</li>\n  <li>Replaces defective components as instructed</li>\n  <li>Works unsupervised on most tasks</li>\n </ul>\n <li>Performs facility maintenance duties</li>\n <li>Interacts with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task.</li>\n <li>Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available.</li>\n <li>Works in accordance with all federal/ provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT).</li>\n <li>Acts as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels.</li>\n <li>Demonstrate the ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents.</li>\n <li>Other support duties as required to support operations. These could include but are not limited to Service Island support</li>\n <li>SBTIII trained within 180 days (SBT220)</li>\n <li>Complete 2 of the OEM On-Line diagnostic scan tool software courses as required by location fleet mi.
