Human Rights Act.&#160; Although the Commission is within OHR, the Commission acts independent of OHR in order to adjudicate cases in an impartial manner.</p><p></p><p><u><strong>Commission membership</strong></u><strong>:</strong></p><p>The Commission shall consist of 15 members, appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council.&#160;</p><p></p><p><strong><u>Qualifications</u>:</strong></p><p>The Commission members shall be residents of the District of Columbia who have a demonstrated background or interest in human rights.</p><p></p><p><strong><u>Time commitment</u>:</strong> &#160;</p><p>The Commission meets every other month; subcommittees meet as required to complete tasks.</p><p></p><p>If you are interested in an appointment to this board, please complete the appointment application.
