    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>The Youth Ministries Coordinator provides relational ministries to children, teens and their families through evangelism, discipleship, Christian education, and recreation.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong><u>Sunday School</u></strong></p>\n<p><strong><u> </u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Work closely with corps officers to devise and implement growth plans for Sunday School and emphasize its importance to the children, youth, and families.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Be responsible for the safety and wellbeing of youth participants in Sunday School. This includes planning so that no child will be left unsupervised at any time in keeping with KeepSAfe policies.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong><u>Youth Group</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Conduct meetings for high school age youth. This time should include possibilities for fellowship, worship, education, and service.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Be responsible for the safety and wellbeing of youth participants in the youth group. This includes planning so no child will be left unsupervised at any time.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Be open and support other opportunities during the year where special ministry for the youth group would be an option. This includes divisional youth events such as Youth Engage, Bible Bowl, Youth Councils, etc. </li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong><u>Vacation Bible School</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Organize and implement Summer Vacation Bible School.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong><u>Regular Corps Programming</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>The Program Ministries Coordinator is responsible for planning, managing, and implementing corps programs with direct supervision from the corps officers. The list below is an example of programs offered at the corps.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <ul>\n  <li>Sunbeam program</li>\n  <li>Adventure Corps program</li>\n  <li>Junior Soldiers program</li>\n  <li>Corps Cadet program</li>\n  <li>Senior program</li>\n </ul>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Maintain records/reports (statistics) as required.</li>\n <li>Coordinate with Corps officer and Corps drivers to provide transportation scheduled for activities</li>\n <li>Work to recruit children to attend summer camp and assist with registration.</li>\n <li>Work toward linking social service clients with our programs and worship services.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong><u>Meetings and Trainings</u></strong></p>\n<p><strong><u> </u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Attend monthly meetings for divisional youth workers facilitated by the Divisional Youth Department. These meetings will include trainings and opportunity to share best practices.</li>\n <li>Attend youth focused conferences as directed by the Divisional Youth Department.</li>\n <li>Facilitate training for fellow youth workers based on experiences at youth conferences.  </li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><u> </u></strong></p>\n<p><strong><u>Other</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Be able to recommend ministry resources to youth as needs arise.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Attend Salvation Army corps services on a regular basis.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Recruit and train adult volunteers to assist with youth and teens.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Engage in relational ministry with the young people.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Organize and attend divisional youth programs, encouraging young people to participate.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Drive the van to transport youth to and from Salvation Army programs.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Engage in Christian spiritual conversation with the public and corps staff as the opportunity or need presents itself.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Recognize and assess the spiritual needs of people, which may require referral to a Salvation Army officer.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Must be able to assist the officers with various tasks during the Christmas season as our ministries and services greatly expand at that time.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Work with the corps officer to develop an outreach plan within in the community to educate residents about church services offered.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Represent and uphold The Salvation Army’s spiritual and social mission.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Engage in Christian spiritual conversation with individuals.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Pray with individuals when opportunity or need arises.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Perform other duties as requested within the scope of this position.</li>\n <li><p><strong>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:</strong></p><p> </p>\n  <ul>\n   <li>Must be committed to the mission of The Salvation Army</li>\n   <li>Valid Driver's License, approved to drive a 12-passenger van</li>\n   <li>Must be self-motivated, organized, and creative</li>\n   <li>Great communication skills; written & oral</li>\n   <li>Must have basic computer skills to access the internet and create correspondence, flyers, ministry resources, lesson plans, etc. </li>\n   <li>Must be available for work and activities on Sundays</li>\n   <li>All three PA Clearances required upon employment and thereafter upon renewal date: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, Request for Criminal Record, and Fingerprint based federal criminal history.</li>\n   <li>PA Mandated and Permissive Reporting and The Salvation Army’s KeepSAfe training required.</li>\n  </ul></li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:</strong></p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Youth Ministry/Counseling preferred</li>\n <li>Two years of direct work with young people </li>\n <li>Prior work/volunteering experience with Salvation Army programming preferred</li>\n <li>Prior work experience with children in a recreational and/or educational setting</li>\n</ul>",
