Description

Lifeguard This position is for entry-level employees to gain the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies in water up to 10 feet. A lifeguard’s main responsibility is to keep the patrons safe, maintain a clean facility, and have an excellent customer service mentality under direct supervision from their leadership team. Lifeguards must be prepared to act responsibly in emergency situations, prevent emergencies from arriving, and enforce all facility rules. This job description is intended to provide general information about the position. As with all positions, the duties of this position may change. The company, in its discretion, may alter this job description at any time or without notice. Qualifications: Must be at least 15 years of age Must have or be willing to obtain a valid American Red Cross Lifeguard/ CPR/ First Aid/ AED Certification: Swim 300 yards (12 lengths) 2 minute tread without using arms for support Complete a timed event within 50 seconds by starting in the water, swim 20 yards, Submerge to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object, Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point with both hands holding the object and exit the water without using steps or a ladder. Must be able to perform water rescues on victims of any weight and height Must attend SCMG’s Traditions Training and On-site Training before first day of work Lifeguard Expectations: Attend In-service Training Understand and follow all SCMG policies and procedures Properly Maintain Facility Cleanliness (trash night, bathroom checks, etc.) Perform Basic Facility Operations (member check-in, guest policy, pool hours, etc.) Enforce Facility Rules (slide, diving board, etc.) Exposure to pool chemicals, including chlorine Ability to lift up to 50 pounds All other facility specific needs deemed important by Full-Time staff member or Facility Director Any other duties and/or tasks that may be assigned
