Elderwood is seeking a dedicated <strong>Driver</strong> to join our team and play a vital role in ensuring the well-being of our residents.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Position Overview:</strong> As a Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting residents to and from medical facilities, ensuring their comfort and security throughout the journey. Key responsibilities include:</p>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Transporting new admissions from hospitals to Elderwood facilities or other care centers.</p></li>\n <li><p>Safely driving medically stable residents to medical appointments and treatment locations.</p></li>\n <li><p>Assisting with loading and unloading residents, including those who are wheelchair-bound or have mobility challenges.</p></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>What We’re Looking For:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Strong commitment to resident safety and comfort.</p></li>\n <li><p>Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record.</p></li>\n <li><p>Compassionate and patient demeanor when assisting residents.</p></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Why Join Elderwood?</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Meaningful work that directly impacts the lives of residents.</p></li>\n <li><p>Supportive team environment with opportunities for growth.</p></li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p>Driver:</p>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Ability to use hands and arms in repeated motions (opening manual passenger doors, steering the shuttle bus, securing wheelchair equipment, etc.).</p></li>\n <li><p>Ability to perform pre and post trip inspection duties that may require stooping, bending, and other similar range of motion activity.</p></li>\n <li><p>Ability to drive and work in all conditions including snow, ice, rain, and nighttime hours in a safe manner.</p></li>\n <li><p>Ability to carry and load baggage and medical equipment.</p></li>\n <li><p>Ability to physically load wheelchair clients and properly operate safety equipment including hydraulic lift.</p></li>\n <li><p>Ability to operate a full size cargo van and small shuttle bus.</p></li>\n <li><p>Ability to assist wheelchair bound and transit disabled passengers in and out of vans.</p></li>\n <li><p>Possession and maintenance of a medical certification card as required by DOT regulations.</p></li>\n <li><p>Ability to remain calm in stressful situations; tactful, diplomatic, and respectful treatment of all clients and passengers at all times.</p></li>\n <li><p>Vision requirements include ability to see up close, at a distance, peripheral and depth perception and ability to focus.</p></li>\n <li><p>Ability to move and walk quickly and steadily in an emergency situation.</p></li>\n <li><p>Ability to assist with wheelchair transport.</p></li>\n <li><p>Ability to apply/utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.</p></li>\n <li><p>Drive responsibly and safely in order to ensure passenger safety and minimize damage or excessive wear and tear on facility vehicle; convey any mechanical problems identified with facility vehicle to the Transportation Services Coordinator as soon as possible.</p><p> </p></li>\n <li><p>Ensure vehicle is in safe operating condition (e.g. fuel, wash, tires, and inspection); notify Transportation Services Coordinator when vehicle needs service.</p></li>\n <li><p>Comply at all times with the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Laws, NYS regulations contained in Article 19A, (New York Facilities).</p></li>\n <li><p>Comply with all State Vehicle and Traffic Laws.</p></li>\n <li><p>Ensure passengers are safely assisted and secured in the vehicle before departing for destination.</p></li>\n <li><p>Ensure safe transport of resident, personal belongings, and medical equipment to destination, as requested by resident.</p></li>\n <li><p>Notify family member or contact of new resident transfer.</p></li>\n <li><p>Notify the pick-up and destination location of the time of arrival.</p></li>\n <li><p>Maintain a clean, neat appearance as described in dress code for.</p></li>\n <li><p>Attends facility meetings, staff meetings, and required or preferred in-services.</p></li>\n</ul>\n<h2>From</h2>\n<h2>Up to</h2>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p>Driver:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Twenty-one (21) years of age required; </li>\n <li>high school diploma or equivalency preferred. </li>\n <li>Minimum two (2) years of experience in a driving related position. </li>\n <li>Valid state driver license with proper class/endorsement. </li>\n <li>Must be clean driving record with no violations (zero points) and no accidents in the previous 36 months. Any violation is subject to individual review and subject to termination or disqualification to drive on behalf of the Company. </li>\n <li>New York Facilities: Initial and continuous compliance with Article 19-A of the New York Vehicle and Traffic Law, which includes among other things, investigation of prior employment, prior and ongoing driving record, penal law convictions and continually passing the medical examinations, required drug testing, vision and hearing tests required pursuant to New York State regulations. Knowledge of local roadways and directions, which encompass driving routes. </li>\n <li>Knowledge of fleet vehicles and all handicap equipment including operational and safety procedures. </li>\n <li>Understanding of the rights and needs of transit disabled passengers.</li>\n <li>This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors.
