Description

Description Gwynedd Manufacturing is seeking a talented and driven Mechanical Design Engineer to play a key role in launching a new product line. This role will focus on the design and development of outdoor cooking products. You will be instrumental in bringing these products from concept to reality—owning the design process from early concept through prototyping and into production. This position sits under Gwynedd Manufacturing, a well-established defense contractor supporting firearms and knife production for government and law enforcement agencies. Backed by a stable and successful organization, this role offers the unique opportunity to help build and shape a new brand in the outdoor space—without the uncertainty of a startup. You’ll have the autonomy to design and innovate, the support and resources to execute, and the ability to make a direct impact from the ground up as this new product line takes shape. Key Responsibilities Design and develop 3D models for new products Generate detailed technical drawings to support manufacturing and inspection Build, assemble, and evaluate prototypes for concept validation and pre-production testing Perform testing, analysis, and engineering calculations to refine and validate designs Own and manage top-level assemblies and documentation throughout the product lifecycle Support both long-term development projects and ad hoc engineering needs Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure projects are delivered on time and at a high standard Qualifications Qualifications: 5–10 years of mechanical engineering experience preferred Open to high-potential candidates with less experience on a case-by-case basis Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent hands-on experience) Strong proficiency in 3D modeling software (e.g., Autodesk Inventor, Siemens NX) Proven experience in new product design and development Hands-on mechanical aptitude with the ability to build and test physical prototypes Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Excellent communication skills and a high attention to detail, especially in documentation Physical and Work Environment Requirements: This position is based in a manufacturing environment and may require the following over extended periods of time up to a full 8-hour work shift (excluding lunch and breaks): stand, walk, sit, squat or bend, kneel and rise, lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to — and occasionally exceeding — 50 pounds, view a computer or other digital screen, work on a computer, workstation or comparable system, and make accurate entries in such systems. Manual dexterity and fine motor skills are required for detailed assembly and precision work. Work may take place in areas with varying temperatures or no climate control, varying noise levels, and production equipment in motion. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn in designated areas at all times as required by company policy. Reasonable accommodations may be available to enable individuals with disabilities but are always subject to safety concerns for the employee and all team members.  Employer may require a physical assessment of the candidate’s ability to perform these tasks as a condition of an offer letter.  Any assessment will be performed by a third party vendor and will be reported on a pass/fail basis with no other medical information conveyed to employer. Equal Opportunity Employer: Gwynedd Manufacturing is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws. Note: This job description reflects general duties and responsibilities and is not intended to be an exhaustive list. Management may modify or assign other responsibilities as needed.
