The required duties may include painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, cement work, heating, roofing, and related work. Incumbents may work independently, under supervision as a craftsworker, or as a leadworker over others to accomplish specific projects.<br>&nbsp;<br><strong><u>General Duties and Responsibilities</u></strong>:</p><p>&nbsp;</p><ul><li>Repairs structures; builds and installs partitions, and shelves; repairs furniture and equipment; installs floor coverings, acoustical ceiling tiles, and window glass; repairs roofs, floors, doors, locks, and related items.</li><li>Performs inspections on electrical repairs such as switches; faucets, sewers, plumbing, equipment, pumps, check valves, heating and ventilating systems.</li><li>Paints building interiors and exteriors, furniture, cement, and other materials and items; pours and finishes concrete.</li><li>Estimates materials, labor, and time needed for projects; operates light automotive equipment to travel to facilities throughout the Installation and to transport materials, furniture, and equipment.</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong><u>Minimum Qualifications</u></strong>:</p><ul><li>One year of experience at a journey/handyman level in a building trade such as carpentry, painting, masonry, electrical or.</li><li>A combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to the employment standard listed above and that provides the required knowledge and abilities.</li><li>Ability to: prepare estimates of time, materials, and labor; work from plans and specifications; work with limited supervision; follow oral and written instructions; form and maintain effective working relationships with others; provide supervision, training, and assistance to others as required; read chemical labels, read safety data sheets (SDS).</li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact at all levels.</li><li>Ability to multi-task and organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion with an attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.</li><li>Advanced handyman and lawn care abilities.</li><li>Knowledge of: the materials, tools, methods, and equipment used in a building trade, such as carpentry, plumbing, painting, masonry, cement work, and electrical work; repair methods and maintenance practices for structures, furnishings, and equipment; work safety practices.</li><li>Must understand basic principles of electricity, plumbing, A/C, carpentry, concrete, paint, drywall and small engines.</li><li>Ability to work independently or in a team-based, highly collaborative environment.</li><li>Valid Driver&#39;s License.</li><li>GSA Driver&rsquo;s License.</li><li>High School/GED Diploma.</li><li>Perform other duties as required that may involve working overtime, weekends, flexible hours and holidays.</li><li>The ability to read and write the English language sufficiently to understand written work orders and instructions.&nbsp;</li></ul><p><strong><u>Working Conditions</u></strong>:</p><p>&nbsp;Environmental Conditions</p><p>&nbsp;Most duties in this class are performed under periodically disagreeable working conditions, including: working outside, at times in inclement weather; and exposure to water, dust, dirt, grease, paint fumes, chemicals, and equipment noise and vibration.</p><p>&nbsp;Physical Conditions</p><p>&nbsp;Positions in this class require frequent lifting/carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds, and less frequently up to 50 pounds, and occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance. Examples include the ability to: carry a 90-pound bag of cement, carry an extension ladder, use a 14-pound sledge hammer.</p><p>&nbsp;Incumbents in positions in this class are also required to bend, kneel, crouch, reach, climb, walk and run. Examples include the ability to: shovel or dig in the ground, kneel to lay carpet, bend, twist, and stretch while painting, climb up and down an extension ladder, climb up and down stairs, walk on the roof of a building or uneven surfaces, and run to shut off water when a water line has ruptured.</p><p>&nbsp;Driving Conditions</p><p>&nbsp;Positions in this class are required to drive and operate vehicles and machinery.
