Description (Daily: $33.00 per hour / Long Term: $35.00 per hour) Camino Nuevo Charter Academy (CNCA)  is a community of high-performing public schools that utilizes a comprehensive approach to prepare students from preschool through high school for success in college and in life. We integrate academic rigor, community, family, and wellness to empower students to thrive in a culturally connected and changing world. Founded in 2000, Camino Nuevo Charter Academy students represent the neighborhood of MacArthur Park west of downtown Los Angeles, a community that is one of the most under-resourced and densely populated neighborhoods in Los Angeles. Currently, CNCA has six campuses that serve approximately 3,500 students from TK through 12 th  grade. The Opportunity Under the supervision of School Leadership, the Substitute Teacher works on-call and as requested during the traditional school year fulfilling assignments based on the needs of a particular school site.  Usually, this means being flexible in teaching different courses to different grade levels as needed.  Sometimes it means teaching the same class for months while the primary teacher is out on leave, as well as, supporting with student supervision, intervention, and small group instruction.   Essential Functions Prepare and/or implement lesson plans that lead to student support and mastery of curriculum content in the least restrictive environment Adapt classroom work for the purpose of providing students with instructional materials that address individualized learning plans Administer developmental testing programs, subject specific assessments, etc., for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual learning plans. Regularly assess and analyze student progress toward academic goals in support of the classroom teacher Participate in the same weekly and other scheduled professional development opportunities as Teachers Co-plan lessons and co-teach with general education teachers as needed to be successful in an assignment Communicate frequently with students, students’ families, colleagues and other stakeholders Maintain regular, punctual attendance Other duties as assigned NON-DISCRIMINATION STATEMENT Camino Nuevo Charter Academy (CNCA) prohibits discrimination, harassment, intimidation and bullying in educational programs, activities, or employment on the basis of actual or perceived ancestry, age, color, disability, gender, gender identity, gender expression, nationality, race or ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, parental, pregnancy, family or marital status, military status or association with a person or a group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics. Qualifications Minimum of a 30-Day Emergency Substitute Permit required Willingness to obtain a Teaching Permit for Statutory Leave and/or Career Substitute Permit California Teaching Credential or equivalent (Multiple Subject Teaching Credential) preferred Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred Demonstrated ability to implement varied classroom strategies Educational vision for and experience with low-income and/or minority students Experience working with English language learners Experience serving students with Special Needs in a K-8 bilingual setting Commitment to preserving the cultural heritage of students A passion for students with learning disabilities
