Description

Overview Martins Construction, a Posillico Company, is one of the Mid-Atlantic region’s most prominent general contractors in heavy highway and bridge construction. Reinforcing that reputation is the commitment from our tightly-knit group of project managers and field crews who ensure that unmatched quality, value, and integrity are built into every one of our projects. Since 1993, Martins Construction has consistently tackled some of the region’s largest and most challenging projects with safety, reliability, and efficiency. Our expertise span multiple core segments of the heavy highway and bridge construction arena, across Maryland, Virginia and Washington DC. Responsibilities The Project Manager assists the Project Manager/ Executive by tracking and maintaining records that are associated with submittals, costs, deliveries and activities on bridge construction projects. • Participate in ensuring the highest level of safety across all tasks and projects, maintain project safety records, make periodic jobsite safety inspections and record/file all findings.• Perform daily quantity review with Superintendent and Job Foreman, maintain records, prepare progress reports and notify Project Manager of anticipated overruns/underruns.• Track and enter job cost information on a daily basis and assist in tracking productivity.• Review project plans, assist in ensuring work is completed properly and track completion of work on project plans.• Assist in creating and tracking RFIs and correspondences to the owners.• Review project specifications and prepare/track submittal packages accordingly.• Participate in vendor proposal solicitation, prepare subcontract documents and purchase orders.• Review subcontractor invoices for accuracy/compliance and report discrepancies to Project Manager.• Review and approve material and supplier invoices for the project on a regular basis to ensure conformance with actual work performed and bid estimates.• Maintain all project records and documents.• Assist in ordering job materials to ensure the proper quantities are delivered in accordance with project needs.• Develop project look-ahead schedules and coordinate activities with Job Foreman.• Be responsible for timely procurement of permits and submission of lane closure requests.• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned from time to time.• Visit project site multiple times a week to observe, measure and control progress. Qualifications • Minimum of a B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering and 2 to 3 years of related work experience.• Experience in Heavy Construction (site-work, roads or environmental) is preferred.• Must be capable of meeting deadlines, self-motivated, detail oriented, excellent interpersonal skills and have excellent follow-through capability.• Verbal and written communication skills are essential to this position.• Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment; able to accurately process written documents; able to multitask, prioritize and perform duties in a timely manner; be highly organized and able to interface and communicate effectively with company, clients and field personnel at all levels. Reports to: Project Executive Location: Falls Church, Virginia (Main Office) Comprehensive benefits offered to eligible employees including medical, dental, and vision coverage; life insurance; FSA; short- and long-term disability; identity theft protection; 401(k); employee assistance program; and paid time off.
