Description

Overview The Pharmacy Inventory Clerk will work be responsible for managing the pharmacy’s inventory by receiving, stocking, rotating and assist in track of medication of supplies. The technician will assist in rotating stock to avoid product out dates, perform inventory checks, and inform the buyer of needed medications. The position also includes monitoring waste to identify areas for potential improvement and cost savings, ensuring a smooth workflow by completing all assigned tasks prior to the end of shift, and maintaining familiarity with medication formulary. Responsibilities Receiving Order Receives incoming pharmaceuticals, medical supplies and other pharmacy applicable items. Checks items specification and quantity for accuracy and completeness. Receives pharmaceuticals orders and ensures accurate linking of the barcode in the EHR and automated dispensing systems for patient safety. Reconcile packing slips/invoices for accuracy of pricing and shipment descriptions/quantities. Resolve shipping and packing list discrepancies with the applicable wholesaler, manufacturer or distributor. Receives order to ensure separation of duties, matches purchase orders with packing slips, escalates packing slip/purchase order mismatches with distributors and manufacturers Restocking order After receiving order clerk will be responsible for distributing product to automated and other non-automated areas for pharmacy use. Reviews inventory for accurate counts and correct stock rotation. Inventory Management Works with vendors to ensure medication and supply orders reach main campus outpatient and off-campus outpatient cost centers on time and complete, as needed. Assist the Inventory Specialist in the pharmaceuticals recall process to ensure recalled products are removed from inventory and segregated. Ensure all DSCSA track and trace rules are followed. Monitors stock for expiration dates and pull expired or outdates items for proper disposal Purchasing Assist purchasing with the facilitating and the procurement of pharmaceuticals, IVFs, medical supplies and general supplies when needed. Ensures that all ordered products are contracted or lowest price offerings. Performance Improvement Participates in department performance improvement activities (e.g. culture of safety, employee engagement attends group feedback sessions, submits ideas for new processes, identifies areas for workflow or scheduling improvements). DCH Standards: Maintains performance, patient and employee satisfaction and financial standards as outlined in the performance evaluation. Performs compliance requirements as outlined in the Employee Handbook Must adhere to the DCH Behavioral Standards including creating positive relationships with patients/families, coworkers, colleagues and with self. Performs essential job functions in a manner that ensures the safety of patients, visitors and employees. Identifies and reduces unsafe practices that may result in harm to patients, visitors and employees. Recognizes and takes appropriate action to reduce risks and hazards to promote safety for patients, visitors and employees. Requires use of electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software and intranet. Must adhere to all DCH Health System policies and procedures. All other duties as assigned. Qualifications High School graduate or equivalent.
