    "requisitionDescription": "<div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><p id=\"isPasted\">Global Diving &amp; Salvage, Inc. is currently seeking a <strong>Vessel Engineer</strong> for our <strong>Anchorage, AK</strong> location.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p id=\"isPasted\"><strong>Position Description &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</strong></p><p>The Vessel Engineer is responsible for providing oversight and management of Global dive vessels and corresponding equipment within the Alaska Region. In addition, the Vessel Engineer serves as a deckhand during vessel operations, under the management of the Vessel Captain.</p><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><p><strong>Position Essential Job Functions</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Provide Engineering-Maintenance Support for all ships systems.<ul type=\"circle\"><li>Including mechanical repair of engines, generators, and ships systems.</li><li>Provides recommendations for repair and organizes/recommends repair contractors as required for repairs beyond capabilities.</li><li>Troubleshoot and diagnose marine systems for repairs at sea.</li></ul></li><li>Keep vessel and equipment maintained by performing a variety of maintenance and cleaning duties<ul type=\"circle\"><li>Perform maintenance and construction tasks as required.</li><li>Perform minor engineering repairs and engineering rounds as directed.</li></ul></li><li>Support repair and maintenance cost management within budgeted R&amp;M</li><li>Support maintenance of long-term upgrade/maintenance plan and estimating annual R&amp;M Budget recommendations and providing prioritized annual R&amp;M recommendations.</li><li>Perform vessel maintenance to include scraping, painting, and changing all oil and filters, lubricating machinery and equipment, splices and repairs cables and ropes using hand tools.</li><li>Ensure that safety equipment is utilized, and appropriate guidelines are followed for all tasks involving physical risk or hazardous materials.</li></ul><ul><li>Conduct and complete assigned tasks within legal requirements of USCG and other regulatory agencies.</li><li>&nbsp;Control lines to moor vessel to wharves, tie up vessel to another vessel, or rig towing lines</li><li>Handle mooring lines and rigging to launch or dock the boat.</li><li>&nbsp;Responsible for getting underway, mooring, anchoring, handling lines, ship&#39;s ramps, and shore side facilities in all weather conditions</li><li>Assist with the towing, deploying, and stowing of oil containment boom.</li><li>Perform lookout duties while underway - to include watching for other vessels, monitoring traffic conditions and potential unsafe conditions onboard and otherwise.</li><li>Ensure that safety equipment is utilized, and appropriate guidelines are followed for all tasks. Involving physical risk or hazardous materials</li><li>Participate in meetings, training, drills, and safety audits as required by USCG &amp; company policy.</li><li>Perform other duties as assigned.</li><li>Drive company vehicles as needed.</li></ul><p><strong>Typical Schedule for Full-Time Employees:</strong></p><ul><li>This work requires someone to be available on a variable basis.</li><li>Employee must be available for large percentage of available work and attentive to communications for job scheduling changes.</li></ul><p>&nbsp;<strong>Education</strong></p><p>High school diploma or equivalent</p><p>&nbsp;<strong>Experience</strong></p><p>Must be 18 years of age or older.</p><p>MARITIME EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED</p><p>&nbsp;<strong>Knowledge/Skills</strong></p><ul><li>Passport and TWIC card</li><li>HAZWOPER,</li><li>Current GDS mandatory training and other required programs provided by GDS.</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Physical/ Mental Requirements</strong></p><ul><li>Ability to work any day of the week both night and day Available for after hour emergency response.</li><li>Ability to complete pre-employment drug tests and participate in random drug and alcohol testing program</li><li>Ability to successfully complete a background check.</li><li>Ability to lift from floor to waist, push and pull up to 70lbs occasionally up to 12 times per shift</li><li>Must be able to withstand the following for up to 12 hours per day in all weather conditions (Sun, Rain, Sleet, and Snow): stand, sit, walk, push, pull, squat, crouch, bend, stoop, crawl, kneel, climb stairs and ladders, repetitive reaching, and repetitive band use</li></ul><p id=\"isPasted\"><strong>Qualified candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. &nbsp;The company will not provide a work visa or relocation for this position.</strong></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Equal Employment Opportunity</strong></p><p>Global is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
