Additionally, this position can grow to include direct management of other underwriters as well as responsibility for their results.  </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>This opportunity is ideal for an underwriting professional who wants to build specialized expertise in life sciences product liability and excess lines and play a meaningful role in driving profitable growth in a fast‑evolving, innovative industry.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>In strategic alliance with the VP, Underwriting Manager:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Build strong relationships with brokers to ensure you meet or exceed financial goals including growth, profit, retention, and new business.</li>\n <li>Responsible for account solicitation, risk selection and analysis including the corresponding documentation, pricing and marketing of Berkley Life Sciences products and services for new and existing customers.</li>\n <li>Business development results for assigned territories</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Identify opportunities for account rounding.</li>\n <li>Provide technical support to producers and insureds</li>\n <li>Stay current with all compliance, procedural and workflow changes.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Work collaboratively and effectively with, underwriting associate, operations, legal, home office underwriting and claims</li>\n <li>Engage in innovation initiatives, product launches, marketing campaigns and short-term projects as appropriate to contribute positively towards success of the overall team and company.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Qualifications/Experience</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Exceptional oral and written communication skills. Your communication style is flexible to the situation. You communicate clearly and with a purpose</li>\n <li>Calm under pressure. You have excellent organizational skills, integrity, and great follow-through on tasks. You are comfortable challenging norms while working collaboratively with colleagues at all levels of the organization</li>\n <li>You have a strong sense of accountability, fun and adventure</li>\n <li>You have a proven track record of building and maintaining strong business relationships with insureds, agents & brokers.</li>\n <li>A strong customer service bias. You want to get to yes. You are known for your super responsiveness. You can say no and preserve your relationships.</li>\n <li>Natural curiosity. You love learning how things work and you are always looking for innovative improvements</li>\n <li>An analytical mind.
