Position Overview
Redefining the Future Network, Inc. is seeking a compassionate and motivated Peer Recovery Specialist (PRS) to support individuals in recovery from substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. This role is grounded in lived experience and focuses on empowering clients through advocacy, mentorship, and recovery-oriented support services.
The Peer Recovery Specialist will work as part of an interdisciplinary team to promote recovery, self-sufficiency, and community integration.
Key Responsibilities
Provide peer support services based on lived recovery experience
Build supportive, strengths-based relationships with clients
Assist clients in developing and achieving individualized recovery goals
Support clients with linkage to community resources (housing, employment, education, healthcare)
Facilitate or co-facilitate recovery-oriented groups and wellness activities
Promote self-advocacy, empowerment, and independent living skills
Assist with crisis support and encourage the use of coping strategies and recovery tools
Document services accurately and timely in accordance with program and Medicaid standards
Collaborate with clinical and care coordination teams to support holistic care
Participate in team meetings, supervision, and required trainings
Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) in the state of Maryland OR eligible to obtain certification
Must have lived experience with substance use and/or mental health recovery
High school diploma or GED required
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to serve as a positive role model and maintain appropriate boundaries
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in behavioral health or community-based settings
Knowledge of recovery-oriented systems of care and trauma-informed approaches
Familiarity with local community resources in Baltimore City and surrounding areas
Experience with electronic health records (e.g., TheraNest)
Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply
Supervision and Training
