Description
Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
High School diploma/GED (foreign equivalent or higher degree). Working knowledge of typical tests, procedures and techniques relative to the field of cellular and molecular biology, immunology, mechanobiology, and cancer biology.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Biochemistry, Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or another related field in hand by June 2026. One year of full-time experience directly related to the project or program to include experience in a laboratory environment. Experience with a variety of cellular, molecular, immunological, and mechanobiology techniques, including mammalian cell culture, T-cell stimulation assays, tumor-cell assays, ELISA, Western blotting, flow cytometry sample preparation and analysis, RT-PCR/qPCR, image analysis, and quantitative data analysis. Experience with low-intensity vibration technology, LabVIEW-based device workflows, Python-based data/image analysis, laboratory inventory management, and preparation of research figures, tables, or presentations.
Brief Description of Duties:
Working under general supervision, the incumbent will perform a variety of routine and/or semi-skilled tasks to support and directly assist a research project or program for Dr. Clinton Rubin in the Department of Biomedical Engineering either in the laboratory or in the field. Therefore, the selected applicant will need to have a working knowledge of typical tests, procedures or techniques relative to the field as well as familiarity with the operation of specialized apparatus or equipment relative to the field.
The selected applicant will assist with ongoing studies evaluating how mechanical stimulation influences T-cell function, tumor-cell behavior, and related cellular outcomes. Duties may include assisting with in vitro low-intensity vibration experiments, maintaining cell culture workflows, preparing and processing biological samples, supporting assays such as Western blotting, ELISA, flow cytometry, RT-PCR/qPCR, and image analysis, maintaining laboratory inventory and equipment, and organizing experimental data for review by senior laboratory personnel. The successful incumbent will have excellent interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational and time-management skills with exceptional attention to detail. Essential for this role is the adeptness to work independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving.
Assist with experiments related to LIV, T-cell function and tumor-cell biology.
Maintain lab inventory and equipment.
Assist in ordering supplies and equipment to keep the lab inventory well stocked.
Assist with maintaining compliance with environmental health and safety procedures by assembling, preparing and dispensing.
Data organization, analysis support and documentation.
Participate in weekly lab meetings.
Other duties/projects as assigned.
