    "description": "<p>The <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Yard Helper</span> is responsible for performing a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled manual labor tasks in the maintenance of the company’s office, shop, and yard areas. This position frequently uses hand tools and power tools and operates light equipment in the course of work. Duties also include general yard maintenance, landscaping tasks, and assisting with the loading and unloading of materials and equipment. Operating across Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Wyoming, Colorado, Oregon, and beyond, our companies are united by four core values — Value Safety, Embrace Ownership, Be Honorable, and Elevate Team — which guide how we work, how we treat each other, and how we deliver quality results on some of the most challenging projects in the region.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Roles and Responsibilities:</span></p>\n<p><em>Including but not limited to the list below.</em></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Report to work each workday on or before the designated check-in time in proper PPE attire.</li>\n<li>Sweep and power clean shop floors.</li>\n<li>Empty garbage cans.</li>\n<li>Clean and restock bathrooms.</li>\n<li>Put away stock items in the parts room.</li>\n<li>Operate ride-on sweeper to keep the parking lot clean.</li>\n<li>Power wash various pieces of equipment once repairs have been made.</li>\n<li>Detail fleet trucks and equipment cabs.</li>\n<li>Fuel equipment when needed.</li>\n<li>Remove snow from walkways using a snow blower, broom, or shovel, and salt walkways as needed.</li>\n<li>Conduct regular maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs.</li>\n<li>Drive a company vehicle to pick up parts for mechanics when needed.</li>\n<li>Maintain and clean the yard by removing trash, debris, and other waste materials.</li>\n<li>Perform basic landscaping duties such as weed removal, hedge trimming, and spreading of ice melt.</li>\n<li>Perform minor improvements or repairs to the yard or facilities as needed.</li>\n<li>Assist in the loading and unloading of trucks and ensure all materials are properly secured and stored.</li>\n<li>Assist in the delivery and pickup of equipment and supplies via pickup truck with or without a trailer attached.</li>\n<li>Assist in the organization and storage of yard materials and supplies.</li>\n<li>Perform inventory counts and document incoming and outgoing loads of items and equipment.</li>\n<li>Operate equipment such as forklifts, payloaders, tractors, vehicles, and power tools safely and efficiently.</li>\n<li>Inspect and perform maintenance on yard equipment and tools, and report any issues to a supervisor immediately.</li>\n<li>Complete daily work assignments in a timely and accurate manner.</li>\n<li>Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.</li>\n<li>Use various equipment, hand, and power tools in a safe manner.</li>\n<li>Comply with all safety policies, procedures, and standards of safety.</li>\n<li>Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned by supervisors.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Skills and Qualifications:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>High School Diploma or GED preferred. Any vocational training is strongly desired.</li>\n<li>Those with an education and/or work-related credential from a secondary or post-secondary educational system will be given preferred interview status (Precision Exams, NOCTE, etc.).</li>\n<li>Experience working with tools, including hand and power tools.</li>\n<li>Experience operating equipment such as forklifts, payloaders, or tractors is preferred.</li>\n<li>Ability to perform basic maintenance and repairs on yard equipment and tools.</li>\n<li>Ability to perform inventory counts and maintain accurate records.</li>\n<li>Valid driver’s license required; Class A CDL preferred.</li>\n<li>Display a willing attitude to learn from others.</li>\n<li>Possess a strong sense of personal responsibility.</li>\n<li>Ability to work safely in close proximity to heavy equipment and machinery.</li>\n<li>Ability to adapt to changing work priorities.</li>\n<li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills.</li>\n<li>Ability to work effectively in a team environment.</li>\n<li>Reliable transportation to get to and from work.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Physical Requirements:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Able and willing to work long hours, including responding to emergency maintenance situations.</li>\n<li>Able to walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds frequently.</li>\n<li>Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions on a regular basis, including being subjected to weather changes, noise, vibrations, and job hazards.</li>\n<li>Ability to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks.</li>\n<li>Requires good manual dexterity.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Whitaker Construction offers an exceptional benefits package including:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
