PGW is dedicated to becoming the Greenest Natural Gas Delivery Company in the region.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Become part of the PGW Team!</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Engineer (Job Family) - based on experience - $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 annually</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>This entry level professional position works with Field Ops Superintendents to learn the business processes, procedures, practices and regulations associated with the coordination and performance of all aspects of engineering projects including concept design and development, drawings and specifications, project schedules, budget estimates, cost control, code compliance, etc.  The incumbent assists in various projects as directed to gain the hands-on knowledge necessary to successfully progress within PGW’s engineering schedule.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p>Assist PGW’s supervision in the effective management of all activities related to the Field Services units responsible for the accurate and timely operation of all installed gas meters and metering systems. This includes ensuring that safe, economical, and efficient methods and procedures are used to accurately measure and record all gas consumption by PGW customers to provide accurate billing of all residential, commercial and industrial gas accounts as well as investigate, correct and help prevent all unauthorized and/or un-metered use of natural gas. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Work closely with PGW’s Revenue Protection Unit (RPU) to assist in protecting the revenues of PGW by identifying revenue losses through data analytics and field investigations. Coordinate with PGW’s Information Services Department as well as outside vendors in order to maintain the reliability and integrity of the RPU software applications.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Help ensure that PGW’s metering data and associated billing processes are accurately recorded and that they minimize lost revenue. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Review and provide input regarding current recommended project designs and procedures for adherence to safe design alternatives.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Keep abreast of changes in applicable laws, codes, regulations and industry standards as well as for projects technology, materials and equipment used in the maintenance, construction and remodeling of facilities and plants.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Review and provide input regarding current recommended procedures for adherence to cost estimates and budgets for capital engineering projects to develop an understanding of how projected budgets are created. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Assist in the research and assembly of instruction manuals outlining directives and equipment for assigned projects.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Assist in the coordination and implementation of engineering design concepts, prepare cost estimates, ascertain scheduling, specify equipment and materials, method of implementation and prepare design drawings and specifications related to departmental operational needs. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Assist in tracking project expenditures and project status as directed to facilitate construction activities relative to budget constraints, project schedules, equipment and materials expediting and tracking. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Assist in the analysis of historical engineering project design concepts, budgets, proposals and technical solutions to assist in the development of future departmental budgets.  </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Work with senior peers to perform calculations required to select materials, equipment, size structures, facilities and systems; prepare and provide supporting information including price lists, quotes and prior contracts for estimates and project design costs for work order authorizations.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Attend project design team meetings to become familiar with customers, internal departments, contractors, etc. and learn coordination processes for implementation of project design concepts to ensure engineering standards follow all applicable, laws, regulations, codes and industry standards.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Perform other special projects and assignments as directed.</p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p>Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other related field of study from an accredited US-based college or university. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Completed internship or co-operative experience with knowledge of general engineering principles.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Knowledge of safety and hazardous situations associated with the construction and maintenance of facilities housing flammable gases and liquids under all weather conditions is preferred. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Familiarity with city of Philadelphia, state of PA and federal regulations/codes and industry standards as they relate to the natural gas industry preferred. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Must have knowledge of general office practices as they relate to budgeting, project planning and training. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Must have interpersonal/communications skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Must have project management skills with the ability to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology, work under pressure while handling multiple assignments to meet business needs.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Must have problem-solving skills with the ability to apply learned principles to practical work environment situations.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Must have computer skills with proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Must be flexible with the ability to work weekends and out-of-hours as needed.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Must have a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s license and clean driving record.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>This is a Drug Tested Position</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>We offer a strong benefit package that includes free basic health and dental insurance.
