After qualification goes up to full pay at $32.45/hr.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p>Responsibilities</p>\n<ul>\n <li> Oversees assigned maintenance gang to ensure quality maintenance and safe work performance.</li>\n <li>Familiarizes employees with established organization procedures, rules, and regulations.</li>\n <li>Assigns and checks work of designated staff.</li>\n <li>Builds, repairs, and maintains track.</li>\n <li> Ensures the safety of employees performing maintenance related activities on FEC property</li>\n <li> Ensures track meets all requirements for FEC and FRA. </li>\n <li> Ensures that employees adhere to all FRA related rules and regulations. </li>\n <li> Undertakes supervision of special projects as assigned. </li>\n <li> Completes and maintains all daily maintenance forms </li>\n <li> Maintains close communication with all operating divisions to discuss and address daily issues and/or concerns as necessary.</li>\n <li>Sees that all tools and equipment, materials are safely stored and properly used; prepares and maintains payrolls, production reports, accident and injury reports, personnel reports, and all other required records.</li>\n <li> Performs other duties as assigned by management.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.</li>\n <li>Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write rou­tine reports and correspondence.</li>\n <li>Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, com­missions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and vol­ume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.</li>\n <li>Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions fur­nished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with prob­lems involving several concrete variables in standardized situa­tions.</li>\n <li>Must have in his possession, at all times while doing so, valid credentials required by federal and state laws, including CDL (with airbrake endorsement) drivers license, Class B; will be required to operate railway highway motor vehicles; must be capable of operating all FEC Maintenance of Way vehicles in its fleet regardless of transmission configuration, must have standard railroad watch; be familiar with and understand Track Safety Standards as published by the Federal Railroad Administration; must have copy of current timetable; and must qualify and secure motor car maintainer permit.</li>\n <li>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally re­quir­ed to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell.</li>\n <li>The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.</li>\n <li>Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, dis­tance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the abil­ity to adjust focus.</li>\n</ul>",
