Students will learn to assess and diagnose trauma- and stressor-related, dissociative, somatic symptom, feeding and eating, neurodevelopmental, and disruptive, impulse-control, and conduct disorders with the DSM5 and gain an understanding of the psychotropic medications used to treat these disorders. Students will be introduced to using assessment tools with children and adults. Emphasis is placed on cultural humility and culturally responsive practice, working effectively with clients who are different from oneself, and practice with clients in clinic, school, home, and community settings.
