Role Summary: The Director of Finance is responsible for leading both strategic finance and accounting operations. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting while driving budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis to support business decision-making.  The Director of Finance partners closely with executive leadership to improve financial performance, scale operations, and support growth initiatives. This position is remote to candidates based in AZ, CA, CO, FL, ID, IL, MI, NC, NV, OR, SD, TN, TX, UT and/or WA. Responsibilities Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting; including management of junior resources Oversee preparation of financial statements, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements Manage all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and billing Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure audit readiness Lead annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and long-range financial planning processes Develop and maintain financial models to support strategic decision-making and growth initiatives Analyze financial performance, including revenue, margins, and cost drivers, and provide actionable insights Build and maintain KPI dashboards and reporting tools for executive leadership Partner with department leaders to drive financial accountability and performance improvements, including performance of individual states/regions and client-level variation Monitor and manage cash flow, working capital, and treasury functions Support strategic initiatives including pricing, service line profitability, and market expansion Assist with M&A activities including financial analysis, due diligence, and integration planning Oversee financial systems, reporting infrastructure, and process improvements to support scalability Lead, develop, and manage finance and accounting team members, including outsourced vendors/partners Requirements Generally, any combination of education that would provide the required knowledge and skills for successful performance would qualify. A typical method of demonstrating these requirements would be: EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA preferred; MBA preferred EXPERIENCE: 10–15+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance roles, including both controllership and FP&A responsibilities. Experience in professional services, multi-entity, or high-growth environments preferred. Demonstrated experience leading financial operations and strategic finance initiatives. KNOWLEDGE OF: Advanced accounting principles, financial reporting, and GAAP compliance Financial planning and analysis, including budgeting, forecasting, and modeling Financial systems and tools (e.g., Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, BI/reporting platforms) Revenue recognition, internal controls, and audit processes Purposes, methods, and practices of financial and accounting record keeping Basic accrual accounting principles and procedures Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) skills Proper and effective use of English grammar and communication skills Ability to effectively listen to and empathize with customers Candidates must also have the ability to: Align with Charter Impact’s mission, vision, and core values Maintain a collaborative team environment Adapt quickly to change Translate financial data into actionable insights Work independently Perform calculations accurately Prepare accurate financial reports Identify and correct errors Experience with the following is a plus: QuickBooks Online, QBAO Sage Intacct or similar platforms Power BI or Tableau ADP, Paychex, or Intuit payroll systems What's in it for You?
