    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p><span><strong>You belong at Day &amp; Ross.&nbsp;</strong></span></p>\n<p>Dock Supervisor&nbsp;</p>\n<p>Full-time</p>\n<p>Dartmouth, NS</p>\n<p>Scheulde: 12pm - 8pm</p>\n<p>As a Dock Supervisor you will be responsible for the supervision of overall dock operations, including day-to-day processes and procedures, to ensure safety and optimal dock performance.&nbsp;</p>\n<p><strong>How You’ll Help:&nbsp;</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Provide daily guidance and motivation to Dock Workers (employees and agency workers) to ensure achievement of operational objectives for the terminal.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Escalates issues of individual poor performance, inappropriate behavior, absenteeism, etc. to the Operations Manager.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Communicates monthly performance stats to the team to help measure, develop and improve operational performance.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Maintain policies and procedures and ensure compliance with federal and provincial transportation, safety, and employment legislation.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Ensure all incidents (personal injuries, transportation collisions, spills, near misses, etc.) are promptly reported, documented, an investigation is initiated and corrective/preventative measures are implemented.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Hold effective, weekly toolbox meetings and ensure safety issues are addressed.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Works with the team and others, internal and external to the terminal, to resolve roadblocks to achievement of daily operational objectives.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Ensure the AM schedule for the terminal is followed.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Works with the Operations Manager to track monthly performance stats for the dock&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Supervise a group of Dock Workers, both employee and contractor/agency, directly and indirectly through Lead Hands.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Other duties related to dock operations as may be required.&nbsp;</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Your Skills and Experience:&nbsp;</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Post-secondary education, preferably in operations, logistics, or business&nbsp;</li>\n <li>An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Minimum of five years' experience in the transportation industry or warehousing industry, preferably dock operations&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Previous leadership experience and/or experience in the transportation industry are strong assets&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Strong leadership skills specifically the ability to motivate and drive engagement to achieve objectives, facilitate conflict resolution, and to provide training&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Advanced communication skills, particularly verbal&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Computer skills, including the use of MS Word, Excel &amp; Outlook, and web-based programs as well as RF scanners.&nbsp; Experience using AS400, a strong asset&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Strong interpersonal skills including customer focus&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Results driven&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Appropriate sense of urgency&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Strong sense of safety; training and experience in similar safety sense environments a strong asset&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Knowledge of industry-related equipment, including forklifts, lift jacks, trailers, etc. a strong asset&nbsp;</li>\n <li>English, other languages an asset.&nbsp;</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span>To apply, visit our Careers page at <strong>dayross.com</strong>.</span><br><br><span>If you’re chosen for the role, you’ll be asked to provide reference and criminal background checks before employment.
