Summary
The Receiving Chemist I is responsible for receiving, sampling, coding, consolidating, and shipping hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials in accordance with company, state, federal, and environmental regulations. This role supports facility operations through waste analysis, inventory management, chemical handling, and maintaining a safe and compliant work environment. The ideal candidate will be safety-focused, organized, and able to work in a fast-paced industrial setting.

Receive, open, sample, and analyze incoming drums and lab packs in accordance with facility Waste Analysis Plans (WAP) and company procedures
Code and process incoming waste materials for disposal, transportation, and billing purposes using WIN system and barcode tracking
Perform chemical consolidation, repacking, and bulking activities while maintaining proper safety procedures
Stage and prepare outbound shipments in accordance with DOT/TDG and environmental regulations
Maintain inventory levels, organize storage areas, and verify incoming shipments against manifests and paperwork
Operate forklifts and other facility equipment safely while performing daily inspections
Calibrate and operate laboratory equipment for basic chemical analysis
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all OSHA and Clean Harbors Health & Safety policies
Complete all required paperwork and documentation accurately and timely
Perform additional duties as assigned based on business needs
Qualifications
Qualifications
2 years of college coursework or specialized training in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or related field preferred
0–3 years of related experience preferred
24-Hour OSHA Training required
Forklift training required
Strong understanding of chemistry, chemical testing, and hazardous waste handling
Ability to work safely in an industrial environment
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to adapt to changing business needs and work well within a team environment
Proficient in Windows-based applications
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, operate forklifts, and work in physically demanding conditions
