Description
Position Summary
Arts & Science is seeking a talented Department Administrator to join the Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute. This individual will support the day-to-day administrative operations of the Institute, including faculty and academic functions; programmatic and research support; internal and external communications; developing office policies and procedures; and delegating work to junior staff. Assist the Director with Institute administrative functions. Manage processes related to faculty hiring, promotion, tenure, and reappointments, including, planning and implementing faculty recruitment activities. Lead administrative operations for Institute undergraduate and graduate programs, in particular, the Summer Journalism Courses @ NYU Sessions I & II. Plan and coordinate programs, including, recommending topics, executing events, creating collateral, and identifying and establishing contact with targeted area professionals. Develop and cultivate relationships with Institute and School constituencies along with outside contacts, to help achieve Institute objectives with authority to speak on behalf of Institute Director/Chair in certain defined situations. Serve as administrative liaison with other School and University offices; interpret and apply University policies, practices, and procedures to address complex administrative matters.
Qualifications
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree Required Experience: 3+ years relevant experience or an equivalent combination. Must include experience with leading office and program activities, event planning, and delegating to staff. Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Knowledge of standard office software.
Additional Information
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $70,000.00 to USD $75,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
