**MUST HOLD USCG MERCHANT MARINER CREDENTION (MMC) ENDORSEMENT AS QMED TO APPLY!** Job Summary: A QMED is a more experienced unlicensed position in the engine department responsible for assisting with maintenance and operation of the main propulsion plant, auxiliary machinery, deck/cargo equipment, and bunkering/fueling in a safe, efficient manner. Primary Responsibilities : The QMED is generally responsible for acting under the direction of the First Assistant Engineer or Watch Officer on duty, typically including: Assisting the Engineering Department in the maintenance and operations of the main engines and auxiliary systems / machinery aboard ship Making rounds of engineering spaces as directed Monitoring/Recording gauges and equipment as assigned Responding in accordance with the duties listed on the Station Bill Able to understand all commands, both written and verbal, in English Credential, License / Endorsement, and Certificate Requirements: Valid U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) U.S. Coast Guard Endorsement as Qualified Member of the Engine Department (QMED) Valid U.S. Coast Guard Medical Certificate Valid U.S. DOT Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) Legally eligible to be employed in the United States (Proof of identity and eligibility will be required upon employment
