The successful candidate will have the opportunity to play in a role in various commercial space endeavors with our partners that include Intuitive Machines, Axiom Space, Lockheed Martin, and others. Responsibilities The Commercial Spaceflight Mechanical Engineer will: Design CAD models, complex assemblies, and engineering drawings based on system requirements Apply expertise in engineering principles and techniques to requirements validation, product development, and product integration Evaluate designs to ensure they meet customer satisfaction and engineering principles Support cross-functional teams Establish and lead working relationships with customer counterparts, requirement owners, and commercial teammates' key personnel to promote mission success Use technical expertise to increase efficiency, accuracy, and quality of engineering deliverables Perform all other assigned duties Qualifications **This position is posted at multiple levels and multiple positions. Depending on the candidate’s experience, position requirements and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.** Required Education/Experience/Skills: BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited engineering school and five (5) years of related engineering experience -OR- BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited engineering school and ten (10) years of related engineering experience Applied experience using modeling software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.) Mechanical design experience, including designing CAD models, complex assemblies, and engineering drawings Experience working on cross-discipline engineering teams Excellent communication skills (in both written and verbal), integration, coordination and presentation skills Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with customers and stakeholders Applied working knowledge of engineering practices associated with the definition, design, development, verification, implementation, testing, integration, and validation of complex systems Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint) Prefe rred Education/Experience/Skills: Working experience with Human Space Exploration programs Experience in a manufacturing environment Experience with requirement development, decomposition, documentation, and review Project management or other leadership experience Experience developing technical documentation Working experience with Windchill Working experience with product lifecycle management software, JIRA or similar Master of Science degree in Engineering Essential Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation. Post offer applicants and employees are subject to testing for marijuana, cocaine, opioids, amphetamines, PCP, and alcohol as outlined in our Drug Free Workplace policy. Work may involve sitting for extended periods. May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lb. Must have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary. Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task. Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.) Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required. Must be able to work in a team atmosphere. Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
