How you’ll contribute
A Registrar who excels in this role:
Collects patient demographic and insurance information for outpatient services. Collects insurance, co-pay, and deductibles at Point of Service. Quickly and efficiently expedites the registration process. Provides a positive first impression of the hospital to the public. Ensures that all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is obtained and entered in the registration system with timeliness and accuracy. Distributes and explains forms, documents, and educational handouts to patients or family members. Meets with patient or patient's caregiver before or after admission to exchange necessary information and documentation. Provides explanation of process and addresses concerns and questions. Communicates with admitting physician's office, nursing unit staff, and/or other appropriate personnel regarding admission to exchange necessary information and determine placement. Verifies insurance benefits and obtains precertification/authorization as necessary. Determines and accepts required payments, including co-pays and deductibles, or refers to financial counselors for follow up.
What we’re looking for
Applicants should have obtained a High School Diploma or GED (Preferred). Additional requirements include:
High School Diploma or GED Preferred; Associate’s Degree Preferred.
Certifications:
Handle with Care to be received within 30 days of orientation and kept annually.
Skills:
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Schedule : PRN (as needed)
This position does not have a set weekly schedule. You’ll be called in to work when extra help is needed—such as covering for someone, handling busy periods, or filling gaps in the schedule. Hours can vary from week to week, and there’s no guaranteed hours.
