Description
Responsible for implementation and monitoring of a comprehensive Compliance Program for the Mount Sinai Medical Center. Works directly with the Vice President of Compliance and the Chief Compliance Officer in managing the work plans, educational activities and/or audit programs designed by members of Compliance leadership. Develops relationships and fosters partnerships with colleagues, management, faculty and staff. Participates in meetings and projects geared toward mitigating compliance risk factors.
Responsibilities
1. Evaluates and identifies areas of risk and appraises their significance in relation to the assigned environment, keeping Compliance leadership informed of these developments on a timely basis. Reports findings and makes recommendations to correct unsatisfactory conditions and improve the overall risk profile.
2. Assists Vice President of Compliance / Chief Compliance Officer with the priority rankings of initiatives identified within the Compliance work plan. Manages the implementation of work plan initiatives and audit programs, and facilitates the identification and dissemination of Best Practices.
3. Recommends/reviews project work and scope, when and how to expand/reduce audit testing. Prepares conclusive findings and related reports to leadership.
4. Assists appropriate Compliance Directors with the development and implementation of a formalized oversight program for tracking Mandatory Reporting Regulatory Communications, including the direction, scope, theory, and procedures to be incorporated into compliance monitoring efforts.
5. Plans audit and monitoring engagements; prepares appropriate and comprehensive work programs, conducts research, testing and analysis with minimal direction and supervision.
6. Performs analysis of educational and monitoring activities and works with members of Compliance leadership in presenting results in a structured format to leadership.
7. Ensures quality and scope of all projects meets standards as established by the Vice President of Compliance/Chief Compliance Officer, the Audit and Compliance Committee of the Board of Trustees, other organizational leadership, the Medical Centers external auditors and external regulatory bodies. Works on multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring completion of assignments within established time frames.
8. Assumes responsibility for assigned special projects.
9. Maintains detailed work files and organized supporting documentation to uphold activities and related findings.
10. Manages operational activities surrounding key institutional committees involving members of senior leadership, faculty and Compliance leadership including, but not limited to, Enterprise Risk Management Committee, Compliance Oversight Committee and Staff Conflicts of Interest Committee.
11. Responsible for management of all applicable reporting databases.
12. Assists Compliance leadership with preparation and maintenance of the Compliance Department presentation to the Audit and Compliance Committee of the Board of Trustees.
13. Identifies and monitors industry developments to assess their applicability to the organization.
14. Incorporates the use of automated review techniques, as applicable.
15. Uses a collaborative and consultative service-oriented approach in assigned tasks and in all dealings with Medical Center personnel.
16. Makes oral and written presentations, as required.
17. Other duties as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications
5 years relevant business experience, preferably within a healthcare institution or other health related service industry, or major accounting firm, or equivalent experience.

Assists Compliance leadership with preparation and maintenance of the Compliance Department presentation to the Audit and Compliance Committee of the Board of Trustees.</p>\n<p>13. Identifies and monitors industry developments to assess their applicability to the organization.</p>\n<p>14. Incorporates the use of automated review techniques, as applicable.</p>\n<p>15.
