Guided by the ASV (Association of Shelter Veterinarians) Guidelines and best practices in the industry, we ensure that each animal receives humane care, appropriate enrichment, and responsible placement decisions.</p><p>As an Animal Care Technician- Canine you will play a vital role in upholding these standards by ensuring the daily care, cleanliness, and well-being of our dogs. This position works collaboratively with the Lead Animal Shelter Kennel Technician to maintain a safe, positive, and enriching environment for every dog in our care while supporting responsible adoption practices that prioritize both animal welfare and community safety.</p><p>This position is responsible for:</p><ul><li>Upholding and enforcing shelter protocols for cleaning, feeding, enrichment, and handling in alignment with ASV Guidelines.</li><li>Monitoring the health, behavior, and well-being of dogs and communicating concerns promptly.</li><li>Promoting a safe, positive, and humane environment for dogs, staff, volunteers, and visitors.</li><li>Ensuring that all practices support responsible adoptions and prioritize public safety.</li><li>Ensure effective communication, teamwork, professionalism, and adherence to the shelter’s mission and best-practice principles.</li></ul><p><strong>Qualifications & Requirements</strong></p><ul><li>Knowledge of ASV Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters (<a href=\"https://jsmcah.org/index.php/jasv/issue/view/2\">link</a>) and commitment to implementing best practices.</li><li><u><strong>Strong work ethic; dependable, reliable, and accountable.</strong></u></li><li>Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with staff, volunteers, and leadership.</li><li>Professional and courteous demeanor, even in high-stress or challenging situations.</li></ul> <p><strong>Working Conditions</strong></p><ul><li>Frequent bending, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods.</li><li>Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform other physically demanding tasks as required.</li><li>Regular exposure to animals with varying temperaments and to outdoor weather conditions.</li><li>Comfortable walking dogs and maintaining outdoor runs in all weather conditions.</li><li>Routine use of cleaning agents, disinfectants, and other shelter maintenance materials.​​​​</li></ul><br>Location: Hyde Park, NY<br> <p><strong>Schedule:</strong></p><ul><li>Full-time, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM</li><li>Friday- Tuesday, including holidays as needed</li></ul><p><strong>Compensation:</strong></p><ul><li>Competitive hourly rate <strong>based on experience and qualifications</strong>: $16-$17 an hour</li><li>401k and Life insurance available, Medical and Dental Contributions provided</li></ul><br>If you love animals and want to be part of a dedicated team working to save lives every day, please send resume to [email protected]. ",
