HEABC is responsible for negotiating provincial agreements for 138,000 unionized health care employees including nurses, physician residents, ambulance paramedics, health science professionals, and more. HEABC’s Human Resources, Strategies & Services (HRSS) department is responsible for the administration of a number of Health Human Resource initiatives across the province. The successful candidate may be permitted to work in a hybrid model (combination of in-office and flexible work location) and will live within commuting distance of our Vancouver office. Reporting to the Manager, Nurse Navigation and Bursary, the Nurse Navigator works with complex issues to resolve emerging recruitment challenges, and acts as a dedicated resource for both Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs) and Partners. The Nurse Navigator is a first point of contact who guides and supports IENs throughout complex provincial licensing and credentialing processes, monitoring candidate progress with the goal of creating a more efficient and supportive process. Responsibilities include: As a subject matter expert, provides one-on-one and personalized support for nursing candidates as they navigate the regulatory processes required to live and work in BC. Works closely with regulatory bodies (e.g., BCCNM and Inspire Global Assessments), and other internal and external partners to track candidates’ progress and to identify and remove bottlenecks and barriers that may arise. Maintains candidate tracking systems and provides key metrics for reporting. Reviews candidate credentials, education, and experience and explains the relevant regulatory process for licensure with the BCCNM and advises candidates about alternate registration pathways such as Health Care Aide (HCA) as appropriate. Creates written informational resources that help IENs understand the licensing processes while being appropriate and accessible to an international audience. Deliver presentations (both in-person and virtually) and represent the HMBC Nursing team at conferences and other recruitment events. Establishes, builds, and maintains effective relationships with key internal and external partners, including post-secondary institutions, and other IEN serving organizations. Provides information and connects candidates with other HMBC nursing team supports, including bursaries (financial assistance) and employment services that provide information and referrals to BC health authorities. Fosters a collaborative team environment by sharing important information and subject matter expertise with other Navigators, nursing team members, and the broader HMBC and HRSS teams. Required Experience: University degree, preferably related to Human Resources, Business Administration, or Social Services or another relevant degree Minimum of five years’ recent related recruitment experience in the health care sector providing expertise in recruitment, HR strategies, analysis and problem solving, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Demonstrated: customer service, ability to provide strategic consultative advice, problem solving skills and the ability to facilitate resolutions within unclear guidelines and established frameworks, ability to research and present complex issues, ability to prioritize work, communication skills (verbal and written) and computer software/hardware skills. Occasional travel is required. The incumbent must be able to handle confidential information with discretion and maturity; be a creative problem-solver; and be able to effectively balance multiple projects. Salary Range: $76,111 to $99,895 Typical Hiring Range: $76,111 to $95,138 In determining salary, HEABC considers many factors including the successful candidate’s skillset and experience as well as internal equity.
