Join our growing team supporting customer missions as a <strong>Software Engineer</strong> in <strong>Tysons</strong><strong>, Virginia</strong>.</p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Required Qualifications:   </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Experience designing, building, and operating production systems</li>\n <li>Strong Python expertise with a demonstrated object-oriented design approach, including clean abstractions, modular architectures, and testable codebases</li>\n <li>Hands-on experience building and maintaining APIs, with documented use of modern Python frameworks such as FastAPI (or equivalent)</li>\n <li>Experience integrating ML-driven components into production systems, including:\n  <ul>\n   <li>Deploying pre-trained NLP or ML models into backend services</li>\n   <li>Designing APIs and workflows that consume model outputs</li>\n   <li>Monitoring model-backed services for latency, failures, and regressions</li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li>Experience working with AWS-based systems, including:\n  <ul>\n   <li>Debugging and analyzing application and service logs</li>\n   <li>Monitoring production issues and participating in incident response</li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li>Strong experience collaborating cross-functionally, particularly with frontend engineers, to integrate backend services, APIs, and data flows</li>\n <li>Knowledge of backend security best practices, including authentication, authorization, and data protection</li>\n <li>Experience working in CI/CD-driven development environments, including:\n  <ul>\n   <li>Git-based workflows (e.g., GitHub)</li>\n   <li>Automated testing, build, and deployment pipelines (e.g., Jenkins or similar)</li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li>Solid understanding of backend system reliability, including error handling, observability, and performance optimization</li>\n <li>Ability to work effectively within a team, taking ownership of components while contributing to shared engineering standards</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Desired Qualifications</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Experience with OpenSearch and/or Elasticsearch, including:</li>\n <li>Ingesting and indexing large volumes of documents</li>\n <li>Designing mappings and query strategies for search and retrieval use cases</li>\n <li>Optimizing query performance and relevance</li>\n <li>Experience with AWS RDS or relational databases, including schema design and query optimization</li>\n <li>Exposure to microservices or service-oriented architectures</li>\n <li>Experience with observability and monitoring tools (e.g., CloudWatch, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus)</li>\n <li>Familiarity with containerized application environments, including Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes and/or AWS EKS</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>What you can expect from us</h2>\n<p><em>BCore is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace.
