Leads field execution of complex construction and infrastructure projects, including site grading, excavation, stormwater systems, concrete and masonry structures, decks, sidewalks, parking areas, and trail-related facilities such as bridges, retaining walls, boardwalks, and culverts. Implements sustainable trail construction and renovation, including design layout, alignment verification, drainage control, erosion prevention, and structural elements to achieve sustainable, low-impact trails consistent with best management practices. Assists the Site Construction Manager in project planning and administration, including estimating material and labor needs, reviewing design drawings, preparing job layouts, scheduling work, and coordinating equipment and supply deliveries. Acts as a field coordinator and lead worker, overseeing daily crew tasks, monitoring work progress, verifying quality standards, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols, environmental regulations, and project specifications. Notifies Site Construction Manager of employee performance issues for follow-up. Provides technical guidance to ensure that projects meet design intent, construction tolerances, and sustainability standards. Troubleshoots field issues, recommends adjustments, and implements approved changes. Supports procurement and logistics by preparing material take-offs, sourcing specialty components, and coordinating with vendors and the Site Construction Manager on delivery timelines and substitutions. Performs quality assurance and documentation, including daily logs, progress reports, as-built notes, and photographic records to track project status and ensure accurate closeout documentation. Coordinates and collaborates with Planning, Rangers, Guest Experiences and other divisions to minimize disruption to park programs and ensure project consistency with Great Parks’ mission, safety, and accessibility standards. Operates and maintains a full range of heavy equipment and construction tools, including dozers, excavators, loaders, and specialized trail-building machinery, to complete work efficiently and safely. Provides input into staff development and training, assisting in hands-on instruction for equipment operation, safety procedures, construction methods, and environmental best practices. Supports implementation of the Site Construction safety program, ensuring adherence to PPE, traffic control, trench safety, confined space, and equipment operation requirements. Conducts field safety checks and pre-job briefings. Performs manual labor and skilled construction tasks as needed to complete projects within scope, quality, and schedule expectations.
