Description

Description At the Recuperative Care Program, Maine’s first respite care center, Preble Street works in partnership with Greater Portland Health and Maine Medical Center to provide medical services and social services to people experiencing homelessness who have been discharged from hospital care, offering a safe, supportive environment in which to recover. Preble Street is hiring staff to work with the Recuperative Care Program on an as needed (per diem) basis. As needed staff support clients receiving medical and behavioral health care in their continued recovery by engaging with clients and providing direct services, maintaining a safe environment, providing staff coverage in the program, and assisting with case management activities. As needed staff select shifts based on their availability. Shifts vary in length and may include evening, awake overnight or weekend hours. Requirements Preferred qualifications include experience in direct service provision to people experiencing homelessness, or a comparable combination of relevant work experience, education, and/or training. Working at RCP requires an understanding of and alignment with Preble Street’s mission, positive regard for individuals accessing services for homelessness and poverty, and a commitment to providing low-barrier services. Additional requirements include strong communication, de-escalation, and crisis intervention skills; understanding of harm reduction approaches; ability to engage with and maintain professional boundaries with diverse populations; and the ability to work as part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team. As needed staff are required to remain awake for the duration of shifts, including overnight shifts, and to have reliable, consistent attendance for scheduled shifts. COVID-19 Vaccination Status Requirement: Recuperative Care Program staff are required to have up-to-date COVID-19 vaccination status upon hire and to maintain up-to-date vaccination status for the duration of employment in the RCP. Compensation As needed positions have an hourly wage of $20.38, plus applicable shift differential, and work a maximum of 28 hours per week . Shift Differentials: As needed staff working in a 24/7 program are eligible for shift differentials of $1.00 per hour for all hours actually worked between the hours of 7:00am and 10:00pm or $2.00 per hour for all hours actually worked between the hours of 10:00 pm and 7:00 am. Preble Street recognizes that Black and Indigenous people, people of color, people from working class backgrounds, people with disabilities, LGBTQ2IA+ people and women are less likely to apply for jobs if they don’t believe they meet every qualification described in a job posting. Our hiring process recognizes the value of various lived experiences and backgrounds when assessing candidates. Individuals from all cultures and communities are encouraged to apply.
