Description Project: Musselwhite Location: Pickle Lake, ON Canada Rotation: 14 days on, 14 days off - steady days Shift Length: 12 hours Salary Range: $170,000 - $181,000/annum, range is variable and dependent on overtime worked and production bonus paid Travel: Flight from airport closest to point of hire to Thunder Bay - Chartered flight to site Accommodation: Remote Camp setting Benefits: Redpath offers comprehensive benefits including but not limited to health, dental and vision care, life insurance, pension and employee assistance program Pre-employment requirement: Drug test Job Summary The Mandate of the Safety Supervisor is to provide the necessary resources and support required to enable field personnel to meet all Redpath, Client and legislative requirements relating to Health and Safety in the workplace. Responsibilities General: Conduct workplace inspections and Redpath Safety Program audits at Redpath projects. Participate in serious Injury and Incident Investigations. Participate in project Risk Assessments. Participate in new project safety start-ups. Conduct injury/incident analysis. Conduct Redpath specific training in the field such as Train the Trainer, PLCL etc. Support Redpath Supervision in the field. Regularly attend and participate in Ontario Mine Contractors Safety Association meetings. Aid in the development and implementation of Redpath standard operating procedures. Represent Redpath or the OMCSA on various industry technical advisory committees. Advise senior management on matters relating to health and safety Maintain confidentiality with respect to Redpath and client information The duties and responsibilities listed above are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive Participate in incident and injury investigations utilizing: SCAT (Systematic Cause Analysis Technique) ICAM (Incident Cause Analysis Method) Ability to conduct audits, produce reports, and manage digital safety system Perform in-field competency skill verification assessments for: Mobile equipment operation (Scissor lift, Toyota / Minecat, Boom truck, Haulage Truck, Backhoes, Telehandler Forklift, Front-End Loader, Kovaterra Tractors etc...) Conduct and oversee: Site onboarding orientations for all new workers at Musselwhite Mine Site-specific inductions and refresher training on Fall Protection, WHMIS, Fatality Prevention) Deliver practical, in-field emergency response training, including: Refuge station practical training (Minearc / Draeger / North Fringe) Egress and escapeway protocols MineARC systems Draeger air quality monitoring equipment (Draeger 440XR air quality monitors) Self-Contained Self-Rescuer (SCSR) use and competency verification – MSA / Draeger / Dezega self contained self-rescuers. Ensure all personnel meet MLITSD Ontario Common Core Module requirements applicable to their roles and perform training gap analysis’s when required. Assist with MLITSD Common Core Registration, verifying the training requirements meet ministry minimum necessities and Redpath training criteria. Qualifications Education Required: Diploma/Certificate in Safety, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene or related field Preferred: Degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene or related field, Member of the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP) or possessing/working toward designation as Canadian Registered Safety Professional Work Experience: Required: 1-2 years’ experience in mining health and safety capacity Preferred: 3 years’ experience in mining with corporate HSE experience, development of health, safety, training programs and procedures. Prior experience as a miner required. Computer Skills MS Office SharePoint E-mail Internet Fax/Photocopier Equipment Telephone Systems Adobe Professional Server/networking access and use Knowledge Required Knowledge of mining industry and methods applicable to health and safety standards Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations that apply to work being performed in the region they are in. Statistical analysis and evaluation skills Train-the-trainer skills and teaching ability Group facilitation skills Skilled and competent in auditing Survey and sampling knowledge Organization and planning abilities Ability to interpret and apply all applicable legislation, standards, and guidelines pertaining to Mining Regulations, clients and Redpath Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, both orally and in writing, including formal reports Ability to work independently and collaboratively with as range of different disciplines Teaching ability Ability to source and understand evidence-based content material Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
