Job Overview
This is a union position.
HealthRIGHT 360 has provided outpatient services for behavioral health disorders since 1985. The San Francisco Outpatient Program is specifically designed for people who struggle with substance use disorders, mental health issue/co-occurring disorders, and criminal justice involvement. The Outpatient Program works with high-risk populations from a variety of backgrounds providing trauma-informed care aimed at reducing the harmful impacts of substance use. Our programs are open and welcoming to adult participants of any gender identity. We accept the majority of participants who seek Outpatient treatment; including walk-in’s, referrals from other agencies, and step-down transitional clients from residential treatment programs. Participants and their counselors work collaboratively to design an integrated, individualized, strengths-based treatment experience geared towards addressing each client’s specific needs and goals.
HealthRIGHT 360 is currently looking to fill a Clinical Team Lead/ Therapist position opening at our Adult Outpatient program in San Francisco, CA! The Clinical Team Leader/Mental Health Therapist works collaboratively with a team consisting of Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counselors to provide valuable insight, direction, and oversight of Drug Medi-Cal (DMC) services. Under the DMC model, they are qualified to establish medical necessity and approve SUD treatment plans. Maintains an assigned caseload of clients seeking substance use treatment and mental health treatment. In this position an individual would conduct face-to-face assessments, individual counseling sessions, and progress reviews with each client. Additionally, they are responsible for providing safe, supportive, and confidential counseling; maintaining a culturally competent stance; and creating and maintaining a trauma informed program environment at all times.
Clinical Team Lead/ Therapist acts as a liaison between the agency and outside organizations, linking clients with the appropriate resources to meet their physical and mental health needs, as well as, their human service needs. They also facilitate psycho-education groups on a variety of core curriculum and collaborate with program management staff to assist clients in obtaining entitlement benefits, housing, and medical services in the community and participate in discharge planning. In addition, they provide crisis management and facilitate hospitalizations.
The ideal candidate has experience in a combination of the following areas: counseling or psychotherapy, case management, substance use disorder, mood and psychotic disorders, PTSD, harm reduction, diverse cultural sensitivity and competency, group therapy facilitation, collaborating as part of a team, and partnering with other organizations. In this position you will gain invaluable experience working with a diverse population in a harm reduction and trauma-informed treatment setting as you help clients navigate needed mental health and substance use disorder services to reach health and recovery.
Key Responsibilities
Works as part of an integrated, multi-disciplinary treatment team. Maintains an assigned caseload of clients seeking substance use and mental health treatment. Conducts face-to-face assessments, individual sessions, and progress reviews with each client. Assesses, manages, and deescalates client mental health crises. Facilitates group sessions focused on substance use recovery, trauma recovery, co-occurring mental health symptoms, and other personal change topics. Utilizes principles of a trauma-informed care and harm reduction to attend to client milieu, including crisis assessment and management. Proactively links clients with available internal and external resources to develop/maintain treatment plans, transition/discharge plans, progress notes, and appropriate updates in support of the health and recovery needs of each caseload client. Attends regular group and individual supervision, trainings, meetings, and events related to furthering professional development. Responsible for documenting all individual and group counseling sessions. Maintains accurate records by data entering documentation into various electronic systems for all caseload clients in accordance with guidelines established by HealthRIGHT 360 to satisfy internal and external evaluating requirements.
Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Licensed or Registered with Board of Behavioral Sciences or Board of Psychology. Minimum two years of experience in a substance abuse treatment or community mental health setting. High School Diploma/GED. Experience working successfully with issues of substance abuse, trauma, criminal justice involvement, and other potential barriers to economic self-sufficiency. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. Integrity to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner. Must be able to satisfy requirements for security clearances. First Aid Certified within 30 days of employment. CPR Certified within 30 days of employment. A valid California driver’s license. Must not be on active parole or probation. In compliance with the California Department of Public Health's mandate, all employees must be able to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Medical and religious exemptions are available.
