Description
In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Apprentice Mechanic is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, infection control, and beautification of the buildings and grounds. Performing minor maintenance repairs (hanging pictures, minor electrical repair services (Light bulbs, etc.) and minor plumbing repair (clearing clogged sewers, etc), acts as a first responder in life safety or emergency events, and provides on-scene information and alternate life safety measure when possible. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times.
Job Functions:
Cleans assigned areas according to an outline of duties .
Cleans exam/patient rooms and common areas .
Provides trash management .
Performs minor maintenance repairs .
Assists in the performance of life safety drills .
Demonstrates proper use of equipment .
Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
Qualifications
Minimum Education/Experience Required:
High school graduate, GED or equivalent with basic maintenance skills
Special Knowledge, Skills, Training:
Demonstrate ability in environmental service with basic maintenance skills, ability to function independently and follow instructions
The staff member should be cognizant of the age of the patient in the area in which he/she is working
Ability to read, write and do math as generally demonstrated by a high school diploma or GED
Compensation Details: Education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
