    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Product Engineer</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Position Overview</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>The Product Engineer is part of MTC Solutions’ Product Application Engineering team, the group responsible for transforming product data and research findings into design tools that enable engineers and designers to specify and apply our hardware confidently. In this role, you’ll translate engineering test data and research outcomes into clear, practical, and user-friendly documentation, including design guides, white papers, catalogs, spreadsheets, and digital tools. You’ll work at the intersection of technical precision and communication clarity, helping engineers across North America design better timber connections with MTC hardware. This position is intended for an experienced engineer who can independently manage technical documentation initiatives, coordinate cross-functional projects, and help drive the development of industry-leading design resources. The role combines engineering analysis, technical communication, project leadership, and product application engineering within the growing mass timber sector.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Primary Responsibilities:</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Technical Documentation:</span> Create, maintain, and update design guides, white papers, and engineering resources.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Data Analysis:</span> Interpret test results and research findings to produce design parameters and engineering tables.<br></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Codes and Standards:</span> Apply relevant design standards (CSA O86, NDS,<br>Eurocode 5, AS/NZS) and document appropriate assumptions and limits.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Team Collaboration:</span> Work with the R&amp;D team to incorporate data, the Marketing team to refine visual layout and UX/UI, and the Technical Service team to address recurring industry questions.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Design Tools:</span> Develop and maintain calculation spreadsheets and digital engineering tools (e.g., Cadwork plugins or software tools).</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Continuous Improvement:</span> Identify gaps or ambiguities in existing resources and propose updates that simplify the designer experience.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Project Leadership and Coordination:</span> Lead technical documentation and engineering resource projects from planning through publication, coordinating priorities, schedules, and stakeholder input across Engineering, Marketing, Technical Service, and Business Development teams.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Mentorship and Technical Guidance:</span> Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering standards, processes, and documentation practices.<br><br></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Qualifications:</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Timber Engineering (or equivalent background)</li>\n<li>5–10 years of engineering experience</li>\n<li>Professional Engineer (P.Eng. or PE) designation, or eligibility for registration</li>\n<li>Demonstrated experience managing technical projects involving multiple stakeholders</li>\n<li>Experience developing engineering resources, design guides, specifications, calculation tools, or technical publications is considered an asset</li>\n<li>Experience in timber engineering, structural connections, mass timber, or building products is considered an asset.</li>\n<li>Strong understanding of design standards such as CSA O86, NDS, Eurocode 5, or similar</li>\n<li>Excellent project management, communication, and organizational skills</li>\n<li>Strong technical writing and analytical skills</li>\n<li>Ability to work independently and drive projects to completion</li>\n<li>Proficiency in English required<br><br></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Location:</span> Greater Vancouver, Ontario and Quebec.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Salary Range:</span> $80,000.00 to $120,000.00 (dependent on experience).</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Who You Are</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>You are a technically curious and detail-oriented engineer who enjoys bridging the gap<br>between complex data and practical design solutions. Its mission is to<br>generate, validate, and distribute the data and tools that enable our customers to design<br>with confidence. The department includes two collaborative sub-teams:<br><br><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">1. Research and Development (R&amp;D):</span><br>The R&amp;D team drives innovation by developing new products and generating technical<br>data through research and testing. It supports evaluation reports (ICC-ESR, CCMC),<br>industry standards, and collaborative research projects with universities and labs. Their<br>focus is to turn market needs into validated engineering solutions, the scientific<br>foundation for all MTC products.<br><br><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">2. Product Application Engineering (PAE):</span><br>The Product Application Engineering team takes the data created by R&amp;D and turns it<br>into the design resources used by the building community. This team creates the<br>documents and tools that define how our products are applied in practice, from design<br>guides and catalogs to calculation spreadsheets and software integrations. Their goal is<br>simple but ambitious: make it as easy as possible to specify MTC hardware in mass<br>timber projects.<br>Together, these two teams form a continuous loop:<br>Research creates knowledge → Application turns it into tools → Field feedback drives<br>new research.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">The Product Engineer’s Place in the Team<br></span><br>As a Product Engineer, you'll be a key contributor within the Product Application Engineering team.
