    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>Under the supervision of the Corporate Safety Manager, the Safety Specialist will develop, train, and enforce the policies and procedures designed to maintain and improve employee safety at the Flagstaff facility. This position will require a close working relationship with Operations, Production, Traffic, HR, Quality, and Maintenance departments as well as an ability to handle complex issues such as accident investigation, policy documentation, employee training, and corrective action support. This employee will work to support site and companywide safety initiatives as a part of a collaborative and aligned Safety department.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>​​Ensure company compliance with regulatory safety requirements (OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, etc.)</li>\n <li>​Participate in the creation and implementation of workplace health and safety plans and procedures</li>\n <li>​Evaluate health and safety practices/procedures for risk assessment and legal alignment</li>\n <li>​Coordinate, conduct, and document required employee safety training </li>\n <li>​Assist in development of safety training</li>\n <li>​Inspect equipment and environment for unsafe workplace conditions  </li>\n <li>​Monitor employee conformity to safety laws and policies </li>\n <li>​Conduct accident and near miss investigations to determine root cause</li>\n <li>​Determine and apply preventative measures for further incidents </li>\n <li>​Coordinate with HR on worker's compensation claims in the event of a workplace accident</li>\n <li>​Research, present, and implement safety improvements </li>\n <li>​Perform other duties as directed by supervisor</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Essential Functions</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>​​Strong ability to effectively analyze and present complex information</li>\n <li>​Must be able to speak, listen and effectively communicate with team members and actively participate in and effectively lead team/department meetings and initiatives</li>\n <li>​Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw a valid conclusion</li>\n <li>​Must be able to perform assigned work duties independently with minimal supervision</li>\n <li>​Must exhibit excellent interpersonal skills</li>\n <li>​Detail oriented with strong organizational skills with the ability to work well under pressure</li>\n <li>​Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision</li>\n <li>​Must be able to have full use of arms and legs to climb stairs and ladders to access all areas of the plant and office</li>\n <li>​Position is intermittently sedentary during office and admin based tasks, however the employee will also intermittently have to stand on their feet and/or walk 4+ hours per day.</li>\n <li>​Must be able to learn and effectively use software and programs utilized by the department and company</li>\n <li>​Must be able to detect audible tones and alarms</li>\n <li>​Must be able to travel occasionally</li>\n <li>​Excellent attendance required</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor’s Degree preferred, Safety Management degree/certifications (GSP, CSP, GSM) strongly desired</li>\n <li>Knowledge of health and safety guidelines</li>\n <li>3+ years’ experience working in a safety field preferred</li>\n <li>Proficient in Microsoft Office products</li>\n</ul>",
