Reporting to the Manager, Preservation, the Digitization Clerk is responsible for digitizing and processing documents in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. The incumbent supports digital preservation activities and as required, assists library clerks with a variety of administrative tasks. The incumbent performs the following duties: Digitizes documentary resources in various physical formats to support access to digital collections, in alignment with client requests and divisional priorities. Prepares materials for digitization to protect documents and equipment, facilitate the digitization process, and optimize the quality of reproductions. Operates and maintains digitization equipment to ensure consistent and high-quality outputs. Processes digitized documents by handling and formatting them according to established guidelines and standards to ensure faithful reproduction. Harvests digital resources from various platforms to support digital preservation initiatives. Education : Secondary school diploma OR acceptable combination of relevant education, training and experience. Experience : Experience digitizing documentary materials. Experience using information management systems, such as an integrated library system, document or records management system, or client request tracking system. Experience performing duties requiring a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Knowledge : Knowledge of document digitization principles and practices. Competencies : Adaptability Client Focus Embracing Diversity Exemplifying Integrity Information and Knowledge Resource Management Quality Focus Attention to Detail Initiative Teamwork Planning and Organizing Asset Criteria : Experience in creating, handling, processing, and converting files into PDF format. Knowledge of file formats, basic imaging standards, or digital file management. Operational Requirements : Due to the practical and technical nature of the responsibilities, including handling physical documents and using specialized equipment, this position must be performed entirely on-site. Conditions of Employment : A successful pre-employment security screening. A second-language evaluation (Bilingual staffing – Imperative): AXA/AXA. Second   language self-assessment test : to help you decide if you should apply to a bilingual position, an optional self-assessment of your written expression and reading comprehension in your second official language is available for you to take before completing your application. Try out the  self-assessment tests for written expression and reading comprehension. For more  information on language requirements, see the language requirements for candidates . Please include a cover letter with your application describing how you meet the education and experience requirements of the position.
