    "description": "<p>We’re looking for an <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Executive Claims Director.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">The Executive Claims Director reports into the Chief Claims Officer, and is preferably based in New Jersey, but we will consider a remote working location for appropriately qualified candidates.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Hamilton Select is our US excess and surplus lines insurer based in Richmond, Virginia, underwriting hard-to-place accounts in the small and middle-market space through an appointed wholesale broker network.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">What you will do</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist in reviewing claims related systems, processes and procedures</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Oversee panel counsel and strategic vendor relationships and implementing any revisions necessary</li>\n<li>Assist in coordinating and leading training initiatives related to industry trends and claims handling best practices.</li>\n<li>Counsel claims examiners on coverage questions and litigation strategy</li>\n<li>Evaluation of additional opportunities for efficiencies</li>\n<li>Handle a claim pending of severity/complex files focusing on:\n<ul>\n<li>Providing outstanding customer service and work with the insured, broker, and counsel in the adjustment of complex and excess casualty claims</li>\n<li>Identifying and evaluating coverage issues, preparing comprehensive coverage letters and analysis</li>\n<li>Conducting, coordinating, and directing investigation into loss facts and extent of third-party damages</li>\n<li>Directing and closely monitoring assignments to experts and defense counsel</li>\n<li>Evaluating information on coverage, liability, and damages to determine the extent of exposure to the insured and the company</li>\n<li>Setting reserves within authority or making claim recommendations concerning reserve changes to supervisor.</li>\n<li>Participating in virtual settlement conferences and mediations, with occasional travel as necessary</li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Other duties as required by management.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> <br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">What you require for the role</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience in handling severity and excess casualty claims or related litigation</li>\n<li>Experience working claims in the Excess and Surplus Market preferred</li>\n<li>Experience working with complex coverage issues required</li>\n<li>Multi-jurisdictional claims and litigation experience preferred</li>\n<li>Adjuster license and/or certifications preferred</li>\n<li>Highly advanced knowledge of claim processes, policies, procedures, claim systems, regulation, coverage, liability, damage evaluation, and/or settlement with exposures in excess of $1M</li>\n<li>Excellent at establishing close working relationships with other departments, including underwriting, operations, finance, IT, actuarial and legal</li>\n<li>Strong negotiating, analytical, written, and organizational skills</li>\n<li>Mediation and arbitration experience</li>\n<li>Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite and in-house claims systems)</li>\n<li>Ability to prioritize and manage deadlines</li>\n<li>Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team</li>\n<li>Bachelor’s degree required; JD preferred</li>\n<li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills</li>\n<li>Ability to analyze data and make sound judgments</li>\n<li>Ability to prioritize and manage deadlines</li>\n<li>Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Key Attributes</span><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dedicated and hard-working</li>\n<li>Willingness to learn and apply concepts</li>\n<li>Able to work autonomously with strong organizational skills and the ability to plan ahead</li>\n<li>Keen attention to detail, highly analytical and excellent problem-solving capability</li>\n<li>Collaborative spirit</li>\n<li>Results-oriented, forward-thinking, and growth mindset</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Conduct Standards</span><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li>You must act with integrity</li>\n<li>You must act with due skill, care and diligence</li>\n<li>You must be open and cooperative with the FCA, the PRA and other regulators</li>\n<li>You must pay due regard to the interests of customers and treat them fairly</li>\n<li>You must observe proper standards of market conduct</li>\n<li>You must act to deliver good outcomes for retail customers</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">What you can expect from us</span><br></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>We offer a vibrant, entrepreneurial, and collaborative culture guided by our values: Be Smart, Be Sensible, Be Open and Be More.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>We know if we welcome and respect differences, we’ll attract and retain talent that brings a valuable diversity of perspectives and experience.
