Description Position # : 181650 Expected Start Date: June 3, 2026 Union: HSAS Facility: Buffalo Narrows Health Centre City/Town: Buffalo Narrows Department: Ambulance - Land Type: Part-time regular FTE: 0.83 Shift Information: Days, Evenings, Weekends Number of Hours per Rotation: 14 shifts of 10 hours per 4 weeks Relief: No Float: No Hours of Work: EMS Hours Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band Emergency Medical Technician $29.909 to $36.572 Travel Required: No Job Description: The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) / Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) is responsible to respond to the emergent and non-emergent calls for service and for providing Advanced Life Support, initial assessment, treatment and transportation of ill or injured persons in accordance with the Saskatchewan Ambulance Act and Regulations, Emergency Health Services Basic and Advance Life Support Protocols, and Saskatchewan Health Authority Policies. "Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement" Human Resources Exemption: No Qualifications: Primary Care Paramedic Certificate. Licensed as an EMT/PCP with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics. Current certification in Basic Life Support - Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (BLS CPR) and International Trauma Life Support (ITLS). Valid Saskatchewan Class 4 Driver’s License. Community Paramedic endorsement is as asset. Knowledge & Skills: Knowledge of Primary Health Care and Community Paramedicine. Knowledge of proper application and use of safety restraints and postural supports. Knowledge of safe client movement. Knowledge of proper body mechanics. Communicating appropriately and effectively. Ability to think critically. Ability to work cross functionally with multiple disciplines and departments. Must have excellent communication skills, written, verbal and non-verbal. Physically able to perform the duties of pre-hospital emergency care. Travel in inclement weather. Heavy lifting and often extreme physical exertion will be required. Ability to work in an unpredictable setting, which often includes working with multiple pieces of technology and emergency equipment. Knowledge of Infection control procedure, recognizing the risk of exposure to illness and disease.
