Description Emory Law welcomes qualified, mission-focused legal education professionals to apply for its Director of Student Engagement and Conduct position. The director will join the Emory Law team to work collaboratively and proactively with students, faculty, alumni, and staff to ensure the school develops legal leaders by assisting current students to develop the characteristics needed to succeed in the legal profession. As a subject matter expert on engagement, the director utilizes their knowledge of school priorities, university policy, and best practices to effective, appropriate engagement from the constituencies served by the school. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the direction of the faculty or senior staff administration, this position is responsible for shaping and facilitating the development of students within a professional school as they prepare for a life-long career in the law. Proactively interact with students to hone leadership potential. Redirect student behaviors that are contrary to a professional learning environment and may lead to conduct issues. Actively participate and collaborate with faculty and staff to prevent issues through Student of Concern meetings. Provide oversight and guidance to the Student Bar Association to include budget management and fund allocation. Advise students on administrative processes to aid in their understanding and guide them to compliance. Develop and manage Wellness Programs for students within the school through existing community and university resources while developing new resources as appropriate. Develop and utilize the Houses and student House Leaders within the school of law to advance the non-academic professional development of the student body. Provide oversight of student organizations and student fairs. Serve on Law School committees as appropriate. May supervise or lead staff to include student employees. Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Juris Doctor or master’s degree in an education-related field Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with diverse constituencies, including those from underrepresented populations Previous experience working on sensitive issues requiring confidentiality, diplomacy, and mediation skills. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited school. Experience working in a law school. Demonstrated experience with wellness programs within the legal profession. To Apply Applicants will be considered on a rolling basis until the position is filled with a first review mid-May First round zoom interviews occur May Final round in-person interviews occur in June. The position will ideally start in August for the fall semester. Cover Letter We acknowledge that it takes time to complete a cover letter. We use the cover letter in our hiring process to evaluate communication skills. While a cover letter is not required to apply, providing a cover letter detailing how you meet the minimum and preferred qualifications as well as why you are interested in working at Emory Law will enable us to assess your qualifications and suitability more efficiently and effectively for this position.
